Mr. Drac - Call WaitingHere's a photo I took of my kitty, Mr. Drac. He's sitting in our window on top of the telephone table, and when I went to take his picture, as I thought it looked so surreal, he posed for me! He's a ham! I named it "Call Waiting". We live in the northeast kingdom of Vermont.

 

Meet Sasha! - Australian Heeler/LabShe is nine months old. Sasha is an Australian Heeler/Lab. My adult children "adopted" her at a shelter. She entertains her "brother and Sister", they are adults cats by mimicking their every move. Sasha is as sweet as can be! She absolutely loves her box of stuffed toys! She has terrific visiting manners! As her "grandparents", we can't wait for her to come and visit! Yes, she can bring her "parents"! - Sandy and Charlie

 

Angel and Her Baby, JackThis is Angel, our Saint Bernard. She'll be three years old the 26th of January. Angel is just one big 150 pound baby and mama and daddy's little princess. She shares a home with her 2 cat sisters and 1 cat brother. Pictured here is Angel and her "baby". Jack was a stray and she just took him under her paw.

 

Daisy at 8 WeeksThis is a picture of Daisy who turned 8 weeks old yesterday, we think. Daisy's mom was a yellow Lab and I am not sure about her dad, either a Rottie or Dobbie. I rescued this little cutie from a local rescue place, she was a Christmas gift to my husband. Jan 2, 2002 my husband's dog had died tragically at the age of 4 and I felt like he was ready for another baby. When I went to see the puppies, she had 8 brothers and sisters, she ran up to me and sat there looking at me, it was instant love. For fun she likes to play with our beagle, Shiloh. She is a proud puppy, wherever my husband is, she will go and sit facing forward between his feet, she is so proud. She is a great addition to our family. Our 2 year old likes to run from her, she usually catches him by the pants and tugs. She thinks that is a fun game! By Dawn Sposato

Our Pretty Baby, BaileyThis is Bailey. She has 9 years young and a real sweetheart. We bought Bailey when she was only 2 weeks old and brought her home to live with us at 7 weeks of age and she has been here ever since.

 

Dillinger (Pit Bull, Rotti mix)This is Dillinger. He will be five in March and he is a Pit-bull Rotti mix. He loves all animals and children. He is truly a gentle giant! He loves to wear costumes.

Raccoon BenchThis is a picture of the raccoon bench that I painted about 3 years ago. I varnished with a non-yellowing varnish about 5 times over the whole bench, paying particular attention to the "feet" of the bench.

 

Squishy The HimalayanThis is Squishy. He is a Himalayan that just got back from the groomer, who thought he was a girl! Squishy was brought to my Grandmother's (the local "cat lady") four years ago this month. He was very tiny and very sick.

 

Sandy (Collie) and His FriendsThis is our rescued dog Sandy with his new friends. Sandy is about 4 years old, a collie, and we have had him about a year and a half. We got him in Montana. He was part of a big collie rescue that was stopped on the way from Alaska to Arizona.

 

A Warm Thank You - Crocheted Hand TowelA little while ago I sent a request to help me with my dilemna to make a hanging crochet hand towel. I'm very happy with it and very grateful for all the help, the meat fork worked for me! I wanted to place a picture of my towel for you to see.

 

Zephie, A Calico CatThis is my cat Zephie. She is usually very serious, kinda Garfieldish, but I happened to catch her at a very happy moment! Fortunately Jim had found her when she was a small kitten, she had been abandoned and she was very hungry and sick. That was 10 years ago, and shes a very happy cat now! - Kate

This is our Persian, Sam! Sam is the intelligent, "nerdy" cat in the Spillers' family, as you can see... he's more the "executive" type! Sam loves to be in the middle of whatever activity is taking place, and here he is helping "Daddy," who is an accountant and income tax consultant who owns his own business and sometimes brings work home at night.

Lady (English Setter) and AmandaThis is a picture of our little fur faced daughter, Lady and a dear friend's daughter, Amanda, when she was about 6 months old. Lady and Amanda are best buddies.

 

Wiz and Ebony (Miniature Dachshunds)These are my two babies, Wiz and Ebony. They are both small short haired miniature Dachshunds.

 

Bonnie (Chocolate Lab)This is Bonnie. She's our chocolate lab. She's 3 years old and she honestly believes she is our child! She loves to ride in the truck and goes everywhere we go (she insists on it!) We moved up north last year and she loves to get out and romp in the snow. By mamaboo

 

Angel (St. Bernard)You at "thrifty" have met Angel before. If you haven't she is our Saint Bernard that will be 3 the 26th of this month. Here she looks as if she's dreaming of Beethoven, her secret love.

 

Joey (Akita/Retriever)Meet Joey. She will be 9 years young on March 13. We adopted her when she was 5 weeks old from the Animal Foundation through PetSmart. Her mom is an Akita and we believe, based on her personality, that her dad is some sort of retriever.

 

Wrigley (Chocolate Lab)This is Wrigley. He is named after Wrigley Field in Chicago. (My husband is a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan.) He is a full-blooded Chocolate Lab and was born December 11. We've had him for one whole week as of today (1-29). Since he is teething, his favorite hobby is chewing everything in sight.

 

Billie Holiday and Maggie (Chow Mix)Here are some of the ThriftyFun Office Assistants. Billie Holiday is a long haired black diva that thinks everything in the house belongs to her. Maggie is a Chow mix that was rescued from an Animal Shelter in Oregon.

 

Hunter (Borzoi)This is my 5 year old Borzoi, Hunter. Hunter is a retired champion and was at the Westminster Kennel Club Show two years ago. Now he is just my baby and enjoys playing with his 3 sisters and 1 brother each day. His favorite spot is either on the bed or couch, as you can see. Roberta in Maine

Happy ChickadeeThe weather up in the mountains has been very cold. This day the temp went up to 35 degrees and the chicadees were very happy!

 

Fred Watching TVMy name is Fred and I think I am 7 years old. I am a shorthair extremely large cat. My owners got me at the local animal shelter in 2001. I had been there the longest and they felt sorry for me. They found out why someone gave me away.

 

Chopper (American Eskimo/Sheltie)Meet Chopper, oh and that is Mongo the Gorilla that is giving him the right hand punch. Chopper is a little over 6 months old, he's half sheltie and half american eskimo. We got him last November, he was just so darn cute!

 

Aidan and Charlie (Pekingese)This is a pic of my 10 month old nephew Aidan and my 6 yr old Pekingese, Charlie. This was my first time babysitting my nephew. Charlie was fascinated w/Aidan and had to be wherever he was.

 

Winter StormThis was a picture of the ice and snow storm we had this last Christmas. We had no electricity and no heat or water for four long days and nights, PLUS a live power line over the driveway so we couldn't get out or have anyone get in.

 

Meet Cookie! (Jack Russell Terrier)Cookie is a Jack Russell Terrier, approx 10 mos.old and 11 pounds of fun. She is very calm, loveable she does get wild but that is only outside. She does chase our spoiled cat Scottie around and Scottie is not sure about that but loves Cookie.

Postcard QuiltThis quilt, called "Postcards" was done entirely by machine. For the backing I used a seersucker fabric to add to the puffy feel of the quilt.

 

Ellie Mae (Yorkie Poo)This is Ellie Mae. She is a 5 year old Yorki/Poo. We got her when she was 7 weeks old. She fit into my son's ball cap. She plays with our other dog Maggie, a white toy Poodle. Ellie thinks it's great fun to ride inside my jacket while we go on snowmachine rides. She peeks her tiny face out to keep watch where we're going unless it's really cold and then she tucks down inside to keep warm. This picture is Ellie giving my husband a good morning kiss. Serena T. Dog (Black Labrador Retriever)This is Serena T. Dog (T. is for "The"). She's a one year old black lab that we rescued from the pound about six months ago. Serena likes to chase her ball and dig for moles. She came equipped with mange! If your dog has mange, don't go in for those special baths or dips that go for $40, they're smelly, messy and you have to repeat them 7 days later! We were able to get a special "flea" collar from the local vet that was treated for mange for about $17. No mess, no fussing, no bath! She just wore the collar for a couple months and bye-bye mange! Princess, Romeo and Juliet (Yorkshire Terriers)There are my 3 Yorkies, from right to left, Princess 13 yrs old, Romeo 5 yrs old and Juliet also 5 yrs old. Every evening they wait patiently at the door in that order for my husband to come home from work. I had Princess first then bought Romeo and Juliet later they are cousins. Pileated Woodpecker and Bird Feeder PoleWe built our own bird feeder pole from a piece of treated wood and iron planter hangers. As you can see from the picture, our feeders attract interesting birds. This Pileated Woodpecker has visited us twice. By dkhorse

Snickers is our 8-month old Holland Lop. We got her in August. She sits up on her back legs for a papaya treat, and comes when called by her name. She knows several words, and is litter trained. She one smart, lovable bunny!

 

Myatuk (Alaskan Malamute)This is Myatuk , he is a 7 year old Alaskan Malamute, that as you can see enjoys warmer climates as well. We got him as a 9 week old puppy and have spent many hours training each other. Like most mals he isn't into games and formal obedience but is very clever.

Buttercup (Pekingese) Our Precious Pup!Hi! This is Buttercup, our new pekingese puppy. She is 4 months old in this picture. She enjoys getting in trouble any chance she gets! Walter (Miniature Schnauzer)This is Walter, our 10 year old Miniature Schnauzer. We got him at a local pet shop, and who says you can't buy love! He waits patiently for my husband to come home from work so they can play "tug of war" with his rope bone. He is the apple of our eyes and he shares our nightly popcorn with us.

 

Rocky (Jack Russell Terrier)Hi, my name is Rocky and I am a 16 month old Jack Russell Terrier. When this picture was taken,I was only 8 weeks old. My mommy got me for my daddy for his birthday on December 20th.This was my outfit to wear for Christmas. I love kids and I also love to have fun by playing frisbee with my daddy. I also love to go on long walks to the beach.

 

Sparky (Greyhound)Sparky, our 12-year old greyhound, is a retired racer. He has gorgeous doe eyes and "helicopter" ears that point in different directions when he's especially happy. Now he loves running loops around our backyard, but is equally happy taking a nap in a sunny spot in our dining room.

 

Taz (Schipperke)This is Taz, my (almost) 8 year old Schipperke. He picked me to be his Mom when he was 4 mo. old and we've been best friends ever since. He loves having his belly rubbed, dancing for popcorn and being loved by anyone. Just a joy!

 

Bonkers (English Bulldog)This is our English bulldog, BONKERS. This is a prime example Everytime she doesn't want to do something she runs and hides under this bed.

 

Muffin the CatThis is a picture of my baby Muffin. I got him when he was 4 weeks old and I had him for 20 years. He had to be put to sleep 4 years ago. This picture we took of him about 2 months before he died. He loved to play fetch and we would play a string game.

 

Jack and FaithThis is Jack and Faith. Jack is on the right and is about 3 1/2 years old. I got him at a cat rescue adoption home. He, his mother and brothers and sisters were found in a box on the interstate.

Cat Loves PhotosMy cat, Purrdina, loves to lick the ink off of photographs. She has done this since she was a kitten. She is now a healthy, slender, 10 year old cat. I have to guard the printer when printing pictures. There is something she loves about the photo paper and the photo ink. She will lick the picture clean. She even licks processed pictures. She also loves to lick the inside of plastic grocery bags. Obviously, these obsessions are not harmful to her health. Maybe they keep her healthy and slender! Mitch

 

Beautiful Engagement CakeI am a cake decorator. This cake is my favorite cake and it was a huge hit. This was for an engagement party. I am doing the wedding cake, but bigger and more elaborate.

 

Bogart (Lab/Terrier)This picture just goes to show you that you don't need a lot of money to have fun! Our dog, Bogart thought we were weird taping paper circles to him; but we had fun! by the way, he wasn't hurt at all and just stood there and let us do it.

 

Freckles (Saved from Freeway)This is a picture of Freckles. My husband found him on the interstate in the middle of traffic and rescued him. He had the mange but was in very good health other wise.

 

Seamus (Cocker Spaniel)Here is Seamus, our baby. A full bred Cocker Spaniel he is the joy of our lives. He is 4 months old today and quite in love with the camera. By Gardencraft

Emmy (Golden Retriever)This is my baby Emmy. She is a golden retriever. Any way, this is my baby, she is a year and 1/2 old. She sure is a lot of fun, she loves to steal everybody's socks and hide them behind the couch!

 

Tiny WonderlandHeres a photograph I took last Saturday. The snow was melting off my roof onto the snow bank below, creating an ice menagerie.

 

Daffodils in Bloom on Vancouver IslandJust wanted to share this picture of my daffodils blooming. They are earlier this year than normal, just like the hummingbirds came at least a week earlier too. We have had a wonderfull spring, but pretty dry.

 

Theodore and Paddington (Ferrets)Theodore is a real rascal; he loves to chase dogs, knock things over "just to see what happens" when they land, and wrestle my two other male ferrets and one female ferret.

 

Juliet (Yorkshire Terrier)This is Juliet, she is 5 years old and she is a Yorkshire Terrier. I purchased her from a breeder in New Jersey and she like the baby of the house. When she gets mad or feels bad she goes into her bed and grabs her blanket and suckles it like a child. She follows me around everywhere I go, even into the bathroom. I have two other yorkies and they are nothing like Juliet they are very independent.

 

Wild Turkeys - Backyard WildlifeI am a very lucky woman. This picture was taken this morning as I looked out my kitchen window. It is such fun to stand there doing my dishes and never knowing what is going to turn up to eat out in our backyard. These turkeys show up on a regular basis to dine on the corn we put out for them.

 

Making CostumesWhen making a costume, I have found the best place to get strange clothes is the Thrift Stores, and also have a husband willing to dress up in anything you buy. Enjoy the picture!

 

Milo (Pug)

Milo, my 2 year old pug, was adopted by me after his first owner died unexpectedly and wasn't found for 5-6 days. Milo went in the cupboard, got into his bag of food and was healthy and happy when discovered. He's a survivor!

 

More Rocky (Jack Russell Terrier)This is the second photo I am sending in of my litte Jack Russell Terrier, Rocky. In this one, he is 14 months old. He is a very smart and lovable little dog. He loves to have fun and is a joy to have around.

 

I Love You Chickie!This is one of my favourite pictures. Our granddaughter Morgan just loved our chickens, as this picture shows! She lives in a big city, so for her, this acreage and rural living was quite different.

 

Sabrina (Miniature Pincher)This is Sabrina, she's a MinPin. She enjoys chasing the cat (who usually starts it) and her favorite treat when she's been good is dehydrated broccoli!

 

Haze (Great Dane)This is Haze our 8 month old Great Dane. He is a big baby and so much fun! He loves to snuggle close! He acts just like Scooby Doo!

 

Freddie the FreeloaderHi, it's me again, Fred. I forget how old I am, who my ancestors were, but know I came from "the pound". Glad to get away from them scary dogs in there.

 

Scenic Dam (Mildmay, Ontario)I took this photo of the beautiful scenic dam in Mildmay, Ontario, Canada last Fall. It was one of those wonderful October Fall days when the weather was perfect for me to take advantage of my love for photography.

 

Dusty Dawg - Rescued!This is our "Dusty Dawg". We rescued him two years ago the afternoon before he would be to be "put down". He was a sad and skinny dog.

 

Tammy & Tyson (American Staffordshire Terrier and...To give dogs their worming or other medicinal tablet, wrap the tablet in a fresh large piece of ham or devon. Your best friend will take the tablet with no hesitation - guaranteed!

 

Romeo (Yorkshire Terrier)This is my male Yorkshire. His name is Romeo and he is 5 years old. I have two others which are girls. I've always had girl dogs. This is the first boy dog I've had.

 

MOo-MOo and Stanlee (Cats)MOo-MOo is a boy cat. I'm not sure how old he is as I have tamed him from a wild alley cat. The poor fella was very sad and I think on his last legs, but not now!

 

JoJo Rescued!Here's my JoJo. He's a rescue from PCDS, Hartselle, AL. What a guy! He's smart and happy, tripping over his own big feet.

 

Magic (English Springer Spaniel), Lily...Think ahead when buying clothes, slipcovers, etc. If you have a black dog or cat, buy dark colors. If you have a white pet, buy light colors.

 

Billy (Yorkshire Terrier)Introducing Billy my 2 1/2 year old Yorkshire Terrier. He always seems happy. Just looking at him makes me smile.
