Blue hydrangea and a redheaded Victorian doll

Dried Hydrangea and Victorian DollThe blue dried hydrangea beauties share the table with a doll dressed in Victorian attire, her red hair is adorned with a hat that frames her porcelain face and the emerald green colors of her dress and accessories. The hydrangeas were picked in a country setting, dried and placed on a vintage clear plate.

Sunny DaffodilsThese February sunny daffodils filled my home with a breath of springtime, flanked by a ceramic couch filled with sleepy little girls in a church pew at the end of a sermon and a young lad awaiting his turn to serenade the young girls with a violin concerto.

Photo: Retro Canister and Mr. PinocchioI've recently found my grandmother's old canister set. It is so cheerful with its bright colors and so appreciated. This set of tins is so retro and colorful. I always like to add some humor. Mr. Pinocchio reminds us always to never tell a lie.

Screen Door SubstituteInstead of paying to have a screen door installed between an attached garage and the interior of the home, drape a shear lacelike material over an expansion rod. Place the rod at the top of the door inside the framework.

 

Place Kitchen Table in CornerI painted the kitchen this weekend and wanted a new look. I had a bright idea that makes the room look bigger. Instead of having the table in the middle of the room, I placed it in the corner.

 

Garden: Sun PorchNow that the cold weather has set in, I look at this picture of my sun shiny porch and wish for spring. Each morning in warmer weather, I thank God for the warmth of my surroundings, the tree, the birds singing, the smells of Spring flowers and new mown grass in Summer.

 

Patriotism On DisplayLandlord used toilet anchor bolts about 2 inches too long. Ugly. So I tried to make the situation appear 'planned', instead of being a mistake.

 

Spray Paint Plastic MatsI have changed the color scheme of my deck furnishings this year so my plastic mats didn't fit anymore. I decided to simply spray paint them with an indoor/outdoor spray paint that is good for metal, plastic, wood, etc.

Solar Panels On Our HouseThe panels on the left roof will generate electricity and feed into the NSTAR grid. On the far right, those panels generate hot water. My last solar hot water system lasted 30 years.

 

Building a Sleeping Loft in a ClosetWe have a little girl that stays with us most every weekend and school breaks. She likes having friends over sometimes and we needed another bed in the room with her without taking up a lot of space.

Craft: Entryway BenchMy brother made this bench for his entryway. He calls it a Mexican bench because it is so colorful. It is made of fir and poplar. It took him a week on and off to make.

Country Sunflower TableI wanted to post a picture of my country table. With Christmas over, I needed something to brighten my kitchen. My kitchen is done in cows and sunflowers. I got this cheap place mats and some fake sunflowers at the dollar store!
