A group of kids in costume on Halloween.

Halloween PhotosHalloween (October 31st) is celebrated all across the world but especially in the U.S. Kids all across the country dress up and trick-or-treat in their local neighborhoods. Spooky or funny costumes can be purchased or created at home to wear to parties or events around Halloween.

A dog dressed as Minnie Mouse.

Halloween Pet Costume: Minnie MouseThis costume was made by reusing several things we had on hand. The skirt was from a Poodle Skirt Girl Costume. We cut the top attached shirt and vest off and used just the skirt. The t-shirt was one we already had at the house.

A man dressed as a measuring tape.

Halloween Costume: Measuring TapeHere is a photo of my son-in-law's Halloween costume. All hand made with cardboard, metal, plastics, etc. He always wins with his unique costumes.

Easter Egg BouquetI painted a terra cotta pot that I bought at the dollar store. I picked up 3 bouquets of silk Easter flowers, also purchased at the dollar store and used left over eggs from an egg wreath project.

A child dressed as spaghetti and meatballs.

Spaghetti and Meatballs Halloween CostumeTo make this simple costume, cut a platter from a large circle of cardboard with a hole in the middle for child's legs to fit through. Tie on some off-white yarn strings like suspenders.

Bright red geranium in beatiful vase.

Fall Flowers in Irish Beleek VaseBeleek is a well know pottery produced in Ireland, with shamrocks on it. My geraniums are blooming in the fall now, and there also is a sprig of sage in the vase. We love the neon colors of the geraniums in this vase. They are almost unreal, and we love Beleek pottery. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

Holiday: Blooper BannerI bought this banner on sale for my husband's Christmas party when it was our turn to be the hosts. I didn't even look at it while I was hanging it: I just taped it up on the wall and then starting doing other things.

Holiday: Christmas EveA picture of our house taken on Christmas Eve, just before Santa arrived.

Holiday: A Very Hairy ChristmasA good friend of mine recently cut his hair after years of letting it grow. I helped him pose for this holiday picture. He is always up for something crazy!

Holiday: Thrifty Christmas DecoratingI'd like to showcase my home for the Holidays. Its small and cozy. Each room has been redone by me. On the tree are some hand made ornaments. I used a tree we cut down. I dried the wood cut it like disks.

Holiday: Front Door Christmas CrossWe have had this particular door for years and I noticed that it had a "natural" cross in it. Well, this year, I decided that I would work with that natural cross for my outdoor decoration.

Christmas Decorations: "Fred and Ethel" Bird FiguresI picked these two cuties up at a Party City last year. I went there to get some other things and found them by the check-out. They'll have a spot on my entry way table each year at Christmas. We call them "Fred and "Ethel". ;-)

Craft: Gingerbread HousesHere is a great tradition that our family has been doing for years now. It all started about 50 years ago when I decide to make a gingerbread house for Christmas. My first ones were fairly simple but over the years have gotten more complicated and quite intricate. Now, as was bound to happen, the kids and grandkids and even my great grandson have taken over.

Craft: Nikon Camera OrnamentI couldn't find a camera ornament for my photographer daughter, so I made one. Hope she likes it. I do!

Our Trip on the Polar ExpressLast year, we gave our boys, then 7 and 5, a trip on the Polar Express. We were unable to do it on Christmas Eve so we did it the day before. It was a total surprise. The train was in Hood River, about an hour away from our home.

Caiden At ChristmasThis is my just turned one-year-old son, Caiden. I took this a few weeks before Christmas. He had pulled the tree skirt from around the tree. I was in another room, and he called to me. When I looked in, he was wrapped up in it just like this!

Holiday Ornaments for Soldiers OverseasMy students wanted to create a holiday greeting for our soldiers overseas. I had a box of unusual shaped tiles that looked to resemble a holiday ornament. I spray painted them. When dried, the students wrote holiday greetings on one side of both tiles. We finished them up by gluing the two pieces together, adding a hanging ribbon and a bow on top. The soldiers who came to pick them up from Fort Dix loved them and told the kids they were sure they'd be a hit overseas!

hot chocolate mix

Snowman Soup (Sugar and Fat Free)This is my Christmas tip. I have a friend who is diabetic, and cannot have anything with sugar, but also cannot use Nutrasweet as it gives him headaches. So I devised a sugar free (also fat free) hot chocolate mix using Splenda.
