My suggestion is to avoid all the abrasive techniques. If you have to rub it then it will eventually make your cups or other items look old. Cleanser, salt, toothpaste, etc.
True of harsh cleansers like Comet powder and Ajax and to a lesser extent Bon Ami. But not salt and baking soda.
These powdered cleansers are calcium carbonate based abrasive cleansers. They have just a little "scratch" to them. Please see "Mohs Scale" of scratch and "hardness" on Wikopedia. But they are rife with harch cleansers, bleach, and strong chemicals.
I think a little dab of Comet & some elbow grease would be a lot cheaper than using denture tablets.
May be cheaper but you will soon find the pattern on your cups fading out and disappearing. Denture tabs have no abrasive in them. Get the store brand from Wallyworld they are cheap.
