Sean- while it is said that red wine should be served at room temp, this is a misnomer as "room" temperatures vary. Ideally red wine should be served slightly chilled 68-72 degrees. White wine should be served chilled at 48-52 degrees.

White wine is served cold and red wine is served at room temperature.
