You didn't say what the lampshade is made of. If you aren't able to remove the dents, you might consider re-covering the lampshade.

You could try holding the iron close to the dented area, and pressing the 'shot of steam' button, to try to soften it up, but then you will have to find a way to wedge something inside to hold it out while it dries. A rolled up towel will probably work.

When I had a lampshade which was beyond redemption, I took a piece of fabric about twice as long as the shade was long. I cut it so that I could put a hem at the top and bottom which would just fit over the rims. I sewed it in a circle, sewed the hems and them threaded elastic in the hems.

The gathered elastic fit over both rims and stayed in place easily. I used a printed fabric which coordinated with the color scheme. Mine could be washed in the machine.

My husband put his wet hat over my lampshade and turned it on for a while. Now I have a dented ring around the top. It is covered with fabric and the inside is plastic. Any ideas?

Make him buy you a new one. Of all the inconsiderate things for him to do. He needs to see what happens and take the consequence when he doesn't hang his hat where it belongs. My husband did the same thing twenty years ago. He had a lot of caps and kept leaving them all over the house. Each time I saw one where it didn't belong I threw it in the floor.

Eventually when he ran out of them in the closet he had to start picking them up. Occasionally I still have to throw one on the floor. He knows why. At least if you find something that will clean it make him do the cleaning. Ladies, we are not servants! We don't need to clean up after people who think they can put hats on lampshades.

Put the lampshade on his head and send him to the store to buy a new one! With the price of lampshades, he won't do it again. :)

A wide piece of ribbon or fabric will do it and change it completely! If you really want a new and gorgeous lamp shade take the fabric and dip it into Petal Porcelain and hand drape it on the shade.

It makes a very interesting shade. Let the creative muscle work in you. You'll love it. The porcelain is a bit messy but when it dries it will be a work of art! Have fun!

You're lucky you didn't have a fire! I don't know about un-denting the lampshade, but you can dry a hat by stuffing it with plastic grocery bags (clean of course) and setting it on the washer or dryer until it is dry. No fire danger there...
