Deep Fried Cauliflower AppetizerThis was always an appetizer my mom was famous for making on all holidays! It was a great hit. And very easy to make. It does not take long to cook at all. Serve with or without your favorite dip. Then you can add it to your dinner menu.

  9. Drop carefully each piece into the oil, fill the pan. Turn the heat down to med-high. You only want golden brown! Using tongs, turning each piece until al dente.

  11. Remove with tongs and place on a plate of paper towels. When done cooking, let the oil cool.
  12. Arrange on a platter with a small bowl for dipping sauce (opt) I garnish with a few basil leaves. You can use ranch, thousand island, blue cheese or a cheese sauce for dipping. It is easy to make and delicious!

Cutting cauliflower into small, flat segments ensures even cooking and well-distributed flavours. I've added curry, coriander, cumin, and chili lime powder for a really nice kick.

At a fast food place called Texas Tom's, they have breaded cauliflower. I think it is deep fried and it is delicious. It is kind of like the breading for onion rings only with a cheesy taste. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and has an idea of how to recreate them, I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

Boil cauliflower for about 10-15 minutes. Beat eggs and basil together in a bowl. Shake in garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Three shakes of each. Add flour. Batter should be the consistency of pancake batter. Drain cauliflower, dip in batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown.

FRIED CAULIFLOWER

1 med. size cauliflower
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 c. flour
Salt & pepper
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. melted butter
Oil for frying

Wash and trim cauliflower. Break into flowerets. Put eggs, flour, salt and pepper in a bowl, combine milk and butter and add to flour mixture to make a batter. Dip flowerets into batter. Fry breaded flowerets a few at a time, in hot oil. Serve hot. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl; stir in water. Refrigerate 2-3 hours. Place cauliflower in vegetable steamer over boiling water; cover and steam 3-5 minutes or until crisp tender.
