Uses for Avon Skin So Soft

October 9, 2009

Applying Skin So Soft Under EyesThe oil keeps the furniture from drying up, and leaves a nice shine, while the perfume makes the whole room smell nice. Just a couple of drops rubbed in with a soft cloth does the job!

I recently found out my teenage boys have been using the SSS bath oil not only on their body after showering, but they're also using it on their face as a type of moisturizer. I'm not sure if this is OK. Any thoughts?

If they have oily skin, I would recommend an astringent like witch hazel vs an oil. If they have dry skin and can stand the smell and feel of skin so soft, it should not hurt them.

Your boys are smart and correct! Skin So Soft is great for your skin as a moisturizer and advertises that it is also gentle enough for babies. Also for years its great as a mosquito repellant !

It should not really hurt them at all if the skin on their face is dry. it will help to moisturize the face and keep it nice. I would not worry so much about this and just check to see if they are having any type of acne problems using it.

If not let them go ahead and use it.

Some people swear it works on preventing mosquito bites. I never had luck with it. Consumer Reports even said it does not meet market standards. If you have luck with it, that is great. It should not cause you any harm, unless you are allergic to the ingredients. Always test it in a very small part of skin and watch for reactions.

The only alternate use I ever found for it was it takes the goo from bandages off my skin really easily. That may not sound like much, but I am very allergic to adhesives and it tends to stick to my skin if I use a bandage or tape, so getting it off quickly (sometimes you have to use a bandage) is important.

There are a lot of things that the skin so soft can do:

  • Clean makeup
  • Clean ink off your skin
  • Clean oil and grease off your skin
  • It can be used as a tanning oil but there is no sunscreen in this
  • You can use it as a hot oil treatment to soften your cuticles
  • It can clean tape marks off your skin
  • You can use this as a massage oil

I recently saw that Skin So Soft can be used to remove fur from clothing, but I'm not sure of the proper way to do it, i.e., add to laundry detergent, rub on clothes, etc.

I would NOT do this. Skin So Soft is great for a lot of things, but I would not put it on any fabric.

The best way to get fur off of clothing is with those double stick tape brushes or a Gonzo Pet Hair Lifter. The tape brushes are cheap but one time use items, the Gonzo are reusable and also kinda work like a Magic Sponge thingy and are good for other cleaning.

This is a page about using Skin So Soft as an insect repellent. While many claim to find this product helpful in keeping mosquitoes away there are also a large number of reviews that report there being no positive effect.

Did you just buy the neatest photo frame at the thrift store but they put this big ole sticker on the glass and now you can't get it off? Just run the sticker under some warm water to remove it and then dry it.

After you dry it, use some Avon Skin So Soft to remove the excess sticky stuff...

At one time Avon had a list of "Things To Do With Skin So Soft". Does anyone know or have a copy.

When my kids where young, I'd keep a small amount in the laundry room and squirt some on the leftover sticker mess that was on clothes. It never left a stain and saved lots of clothing. I passed that hint on to so many people during those years.

My favorite thing to do with Avon SSS is apply in the summer time, it helps ward off the mosquitos, and bugs, especially in the late summer evening, plus I love the smell, and I have dry skin, so it helps that too. SSS oil. I also put it in a small spray bottle to travel with, and just spray on a little and rub it in to ward off the flying varmints. If you can post a copy of the list of uses, I sure would love to see it.....

I use Avon's skin-so-soft in a spray bottle on my glass shower doors. Spray on doors and wipe off with a paper towel, your doors will be clean and the bathroom will have that fresh scent of skin-so-soft, repeat about once a week. By Donna
