Maple Tree Losing Its Leaves Early?

I have a sugar Maple Tree recently planted this spring, it bloomed and all the leaves turned yellow and brown and fell off. I was teased by my neighbors saying I am the only one that waters their tree (not overwatering) and kill my tree. I see some new budding growing on the ends, but it sure looks dead to me. My husband and i have a little bet, he says if it lives he will give me $500.00 / CASH
Please tree please live = he does not believe all I have read on this matter.

My Map;e is about 35 yrs old it is about 59ft tall twice in the past 15yrs it has lost all its leave by end of July. what can be the cause"
