A girl trying to drive on snow and ice.By sprinkling clean cat litter on your sidewalk or driveway, it may save you from a bad fall and it will give you traction if you have ice under the snow. Remember the cat litter won't hurt your lawn either. You don't have a cat? Well you are missing out on a loving pet and she or he could be saving you from a fall on the ice besides. Cat litter is cheap from the discount stores.

In rural Ohio, getting stuck in the snow on occasion is expected so I keep several medium sized carpet scraps in my trunk. When placed under wheels, they make getting traction--and out--easy!

To provide traction on ice in your driveway or for your car, use "Oil Dry." It is usually used to dry up spilled motor oil, but has other uses. It will not break down or mush up like Kitty Litter. It will absorb water, oil, or other liquids. Sprinkle it on ice and it will provide traction.
