Recipes Using Bourbon

Bourbon Pecan PieI made this recipe for Thanksgiving as a lighter alternative to pecan pie. I served it with homemade bourbon whipped cream and it was a huge hit! It has just the right amount of gooey filling without over doing it; and the pecans on the top are perfectly toasted. Since I didn't have a tart pan, I used a pie plate, which worked out just fine.

Ingredients:

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine first 10 ingredients, stirring well with a whisk. Stir in pecans. Roll dough into a 13 inch circle; fit into a 9 inch removable-bottom tart pan coated with cooking spray. Trim excess crust using a sharp knife. Spoon sugar mixture into prepared crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until center is set. Cool completely on a wire rack

Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl; microwave at HIGH 1 minute. Stir until smooth. Drizzle chocolate over tart.

Make the tart a day ahead, and store it in the refrigerator. Best served with Bourbon Whipped Cream (below). SlicePecanPie

To make Bourbon Whipped Cream: I whipped one pint of whipping cream until soft peaks formed. I added 3 tablespoons powdered sugar then 3 tablespoons bourbon and continued beating until peaks formed.

Does anyone have a recipe for bourbon pecan pie and the sauce that you drizzle over it? I ate one a few years back while in Point Clear, AL at a restaurant but haven't been able to find the recipe.

Does anyone know of a similar product to Tastefully Simple's Bayou Bourbon glaze?

I don't know what brand would be a good substitute so I spent some time trying to find a copycat recipe for the glaze but it's definitely a guarded secret - LOL! However, here are the basic main ingredients listed for Tastefully Simple's Bayou Bourbon Glaze on their bottle:

Dark brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, onions, water, bourbon, garlic, pepper flakes, salt, molasses and lemon juice concentrate.

Do a recipe search of any Bourbon Glaze (even if the recipe says it's for a meal recipe it will give amounts and directions for the glaze) and you're bound to be able to find something that is similar. Don't rule out pineapple juice being used instead of lemon juice concentrate because they'll do the same thing without a huge flavor difference.

Perhaps someone else here already has a Bourbon Glaze that lists similar ingredients to what you're looking for and will share it :-) Good luck and let us know what you find out, okay?

Would anyone have a recipe for Bourbon Chicken like they serve at the mall? It would be great to make something like that at home.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Trim fat to 1/4-inch thick; then score. In bowl, mix sugar with bourbon; brush 1/3 over ham.

Bake 1-1/2 hours, basting twice with remaining sugar mix. Add 1/4 cup water to pan after 1 hour so drippings won't burn.

This tastes great on berry shortcake or pumpkin or pecan pie and you can freeze it as dollops on wax paper in a covered container too!
