This is a simple idea, but a great one to keep kids busy while preparing a meal. Invest in a few clear glass plates (an easy and inexpensive find in a thrift store). Have the child draw a picture on the paper plate.
Then, when they are done, place it under the glass plate for them to see while eating. You could have them make one for each member of the family to keep them busy even longer.
The photo shows a 6 inch paper plate, but this can be done on the larger paper plates also.

This little project is a simple way to trace a coloring page onto a paper plate, and outline the picture with glue. After the picture is outlined with glue, it is painted with water colors. After it is dry, it is cut out and placed where all can admire.
Here is a simple little basket you can put together in minutes. It's a great way to use up extra decorative paper plates.
The kids will think they're still at the beach after making these easy sand dollars.
