When is the best time to prune a Jacaranda tree? It is 28 years old and gives us too much shade in the garden.

The tree should be trimmed only once a year, after the flowering period is over. Remove main trunk suckers and cut out any inner branches affected by dieback in early spring. Keep in mind that heavy pruning will create heavy sucker growth.
