Photo of a homemade pizza. This was given to me by a friend 30 years ago and is still my favorite. No waiting for the yeast to rise.

Ingredients:

Directions:

Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Mix in the rest of the ingredients. Knead on a lightly floured surface until well blended, a couple of minutes. Press out in your pizza pan. Top with your favorite toppings and bake 35 minutes or until crust is golden at 350 degrees F.

You can make bread sticks from this crust, do not over bake them. Brush them with oil or egg-white what ever you prefer, sprinkle with garlic salt and bake around 10 minutes. Check one to see if they are done.

Time:10 Minutes Preparation Time
35 Minutes Cooking Time

The kids will soon be out of school and what kid doesn't like pizza. Dissolve yeast in the water. Then add all ingredients, knead just to finish mixing well.

This pizza dough is great! You can make the dough, and refrigerate it for up to a week. You can also freeze it.

It's great for company, and the whole family. It takes just a few steps, and then add the sauce and toppings.

How do I make a pizza base? I need help on how to do this. I tried and it was a disaster. It didn't rise and it went rock hard in the oven.

Add 1 Tbsp. yeast (or 1 pkg) to 1 cup of lukewarm water. Let sit for a few minutes and add 1 tsp. sugar, 1 tsp,. salt and 3 Tbsp cooking oil. Stirring, add flour (I use bread flour and some whole wheat flour) and continue adding until it is very hard to stir. Sprinkle flour on counter and dump dough out on flour. Knead dough while adding flour until dough is no longer sticky and can be rolled out.

Do not over-knead; if you break down the gluten in the dough your crust will not rise and be hard & tough. This will make enough for 2 small pizzas or 1 large.

Depending on the type of pizza I am making I bake the dough for 15 minutes without topping and about 20 minutes with the toppings at 425 F.

This page contains a whole wheat pizza dough recipe. Rather than use white flour, improve the nutritional value of your next pizza by making it on a whole wheat dough crust.
