Refrigerator's Ice Maker Not Making Ice

June 20, 2018

We moved into a new place in Santa Barbara California. Within days I began getting badly bitten by something invisible at night and I never feel the bites just the itchy huge mounds on my skin.

There is an interesting article about no-see ums in your area:

www.edhat.com/.../mesa-no-see-ums

I wonder if that is what you are experiencing.

You didn't mention if it was only when you were in bed or outside or in a certain room in the house, so it may not be what you are dealing with, but it was interesting.

I am always concerned for people with bites scratching and getting an infection. Be very careful to notice the area and if you get prolonged (a day or two) redness or the site is warm for a day or two, talk to a doctor immediately to make sure it is not an infection.

In this case, safety first with your health and then figure out what is causing it as you proceed! I will step off my healthy you soapbox now :)

I never heard of no see ums when I lived in the South...just growing up in Pittsburgh. When I lived in Northern VA, we had issues with "chiggers" which as a northerner I never heard of...but those bites were always limited to the feet and ankles. I was highly allergic to their bites and got very sick from them. UGH! Bad memories.

That all said, if you are having issues with getting your landlord to help, you could always talk to someone at your state senator's office and see if they can intervene. We have had a lot of luck using our local resources. They are free...at least they are in my state.

I am not sure if this is your exact district, but one of the state senators has a website with tons of resources.

Good luck!! Take care!!!

It may be bedbugs. see if your bites are three in a row. the bedbug comes out for a blood meal at night and makes three bites. look at your mattress and bedding closely. spritz some water on them and watch for liquified blood. If you don't see any signs of them on the bedding, they may be coming from another place in the room. if your bed has legs put one or more of the legs in a cup of water. put just a dab of dishwashing soap in the water. if they are crawling up the legs of the bed they will drop into the soapy water and be unable to get out.

you will see them in the morning. you could also light a small candle and put it in a shallow bowl or pie plate on the floor. put the soap and water in the bowl. the bedbugs will be attracted to the carbon dioxide of the burning candle. if you find any bugs in the water bring them to a plant nursery. the staff there are pretty good at identifying bugs.

I have a Kenmore Elite fridge 106.51142112. It has a failed Kenmore/Whirlpool icemaker. I am trying to Dx problem. The receiver control board (W10898445 or W10296530) has an LED that doesn't light. Is it possible that only the LED has failed and the rest of the board (e.g.

micro chips, etc.) is still operational or is the dead LED a pretty certain indication that the entire board is junk? These go for $250 at Sears or $120 - $420 elsewhere. Many thanks for any advice.

I moved into a house that had a WRS22WRAD1 refrigerator in a room in the basement. It looks like the basement was finished around this thing. I would have to cut it up to take it out. It cools fine, however the ice maker and water dispenser doesn't work. If I try to get water from the front panel with the selector switch on "Water" it dumps water into the ice maker.

If I slid the selector switch to "Ice" it just turns the auger in the ice maker, but never makes ice. The ice maker does cycle, but no ice is ever made. Any ideas?

My first thought is to check to make sure the new filter is seated correctly...which is a simple test of take it out and put it back in. This is usually my issue when I change something and it causes an issue. My problem is I usually can't hear the snap or click made when something is in right and I just assume...which is bad.

That said, if it is snapped in right, you may want to use their site's troubleshooting and contact info and go right to the horse's mouth for answers (so to speak):

I have used their contact info for my washer and found them quite helpful! Hope you get it fixed quickly! On these hot days (at least where I am), ice is important!!

The icemaker on my Kenmore side by side refrigerator stopped making ice. I have already replaced the water filter once in February when it stopped making ice the first time and that fixed the issue. It is now June and it has stopped making ice again and I went out and purchased another filter, replaced it, and it did not fix the issue this time.

What could possibly be the issue? It went from being over full a week ago to not making ice. How do I fix the issue myself without it costing an arm and a leg because it's not my refrigerator, it belongs to the owners of the house and the landlord isn't required to fix it because the ice maker is a luxury not a necessity.

my whirlpoolimperial series in-door ice dispensing system makes only a couple cubes a day. plenty of water pressure at the dispenser.

I have a Kenmore top mount refrigerator, model number 253.7481240k purchased in 2009. I replaced the copper hose that had a kink in it, now the ice maker will not come on at all.

What could be the problem?

Have you recently replaced the filter? Mine has a reset button on the control panel that I have to sometimes reset. Also, on many of the Kenmore the ice maker shuts off if the freezer gets to warm. Use a thermometer and make sure your freezer temp is 10 or below. Some models will let it be as warm as 15 degrees c. If it is warmer than that, change the temp setting.

Check the freezer temperature. It should be between 0 and 5 degrees F. It won't come on if it's higher.

My ice maker hasn't worked in a month. I have put hot boiling pots in to defrost it as that's what my repairman told me to do once when it was whining and groaning. He thought line was frozen. If it was frozen this didn't help the icemaker to start up again. We have water in the dispenser in the door, but no water is running in to the ice tray. Frigidare Ice Maker Not Making Ice

I just turned off the water and took off the dispensing valve out of the fridge to try and see if the line is clear going up to the freezer.

I don't know how to take off the green waterline going up to freezer because it's the new self setting type. I have also changed the filter about two weeks ago before I started any of this. Can anyone tell me what to do?

I have a Whirlpool side by side. My ice maker is no longer producing ice. It looks like the water is being sent to the ice maker, but the water is frozen on the side walls and on the food in the freezer.

How do I repair this?

You can consult your owner's manual and request service from a local technician. You can also check the manufacturer's website support for additional information. A very easy online search for Whirlpool support produced many answers. You can try a search yourself or this site to start-read the FAQ section also:
