What is heavy cream?

Whipping Cream is Heavy cream.
In the pre 1960's cream had 2 varieties that I recall. Coffee Cream, which was a light cream, no longer found and whipping cream that is the heavy cream). Half and half is just that! Half milk and half cream. Don't confuse this with cream.
