Recycled Jar Candle HoldersI wanted soft lighting for my apartment deck at night instead of the stark electric deck light. So I came up with the idea of a hanging jar lantern. Two, three and more to come. You'll most likely have all the needed items already but, if you don't, none are expensive.

Instructions

I tried to make the hanger with just one piece of wire but it wasn't stable enough to keep the candle level. What I did was secure a wire under the lip part of the lid. Then threaded and secured one end of a longer wire through that first wire. Then chose the length for hanging, bent and secured the other end of the second wire to the opposite side of the first wire.

Place a bit of water in the bottom of the wired jar before placing the candle in it. This makes for easy melted wax removal, and the water is a good safety measure. When the candle burns to the bottom of the glass jar there is always a possibility the jar will break from heat buildup. Also, it's not a bad idea to place a bit of water in the bottom, even if it's a Tea Candle because they float well.

If you don't have a long match, just use a piece of spaghetti to light instead

Stay safe! Always make sure you keep your candle away from anything flammable and don't leave a lit candle unattended.

If you have teacups you want to display, maybe mismatched ones you don't want to get rid of, try this. Put a votive candle in them and place them on a stack of books on a bookshelf or an end table.

For homemade candle holders where the base isn't too large, just epoxy an upholstery tack upside down on the top and you have a place to secure your candle.

Start with a 3x3 inch square block of wood, about 1-2 inches deep. Paint it out with light (off-white, cream, eggshell, etc.) colored craft paint.

If you have the tools, drill a 2 inch diameter circle or the diameter of a pillar candle you have on hand.

This craft is inspired by the daily power interruptions in my area. When candles are too boring to look at, you can always think of a fancy idea to bring light and color during a blackout period.

I am making wooden candle pedestals. I am staining them and gluing words on them. But my glue shows through the paper that the words are written on. What can I use to attach them? Could I use the last coat of stain like a glue and stick the papers on right before it dries? Thanks in advance.

Use Mod Podge you can get it in the craft area. You get in the craft area near glues:) works great:) and it doesn't bubble as you Decoupage over the paper:0 wish you luck
