Buy And Sell Online

I have a four year old daughter and a newborn son and buying new clothes all the time is expensive! I found two websites that let people buy and sell used children's clothing. They are both awesome sites!

Yard Sales

What did we ever do before Yard Sales? After all, new clothes are used clothes once they have been washed. When my kids were young, they helped clothe my family. I have a special little grandson who stays with me a lot and I buy play clothes so that when he comes, I have my own little stash that I don't care if he plays in. Then I send him home in his good clothes. You gotta look for GOOD clothing at yard sales.

Take Hand-Me-Downs and Other Tips

Don't be afraid of hand-me downs. If someone offers you hand-me downs, take them! Go through them and whatever you don't want or can't use, give away to someone who can. If you get hand-me downs that are too big for your child, store them in rubbermaid totes until you child can wear them. My daughter is 11 months old and I have clothes stored up that she'll be 4 or 5 years old before she can wear them.

Yard sales and thrift stores are great places to buy baby clothes. You can find things that still have price tags on them for hardly nothing.

Also, buying clothes off season will help you save a lot too. I got my daughter sweat shirts for the winter in July for just $1 each at Wal-Mart. When searching the sales racks, if I find something I just love marked down cheap, I'll buy it even if she won't wear it for a while. Kids are forever needing clothes, no matter what size they're in, so why not buy something ahead of time when it's cheap like that instead of waiting?

Buy Ahead and Store Good Deals

Yard Sales are the best! Even buy ahead, especially for kids under age two, simply because they grow so quickly. They mostly stay in jammies and bibs anyway. My boys, all summer babies, stayed in onesies or t-shirts, cloth diapers, plastic pants, and booties until the weather got cooler. If you are a SAHM, babies only need a few good outfits for visiting/going out.

Baby Clothes Swap Meet

They have one weekend a year here in the convention center when you can go and buy, sell, swap and trade baby clothes. You might plan one for your house and invite others to set up a table My daughter bought all her first born's baby clothes at yard sales. When she was finished with them, she had a yard sale and was able to sell them for what she paid for them.

Brand New Clothes At Goodwill

I go to Goodwill and often find brand name clothes in great condition. After the yard sales is a great time to look. You could also check Ebay for lots, etc. I've found clothes sorted by size for 99 cents plus shipping. Good luck!

Tie Dye Stained Baby Clothes

Clothing received a slight stain; Tie dye it to your favourite colour or pink or blue for your baby. I did this with my cloth nappies, and singlets to get a little more use out of them, they are more funky coloured than white anyway. So you get to make a fashion statement as well as saving your self money.

Check out thrift stores, yard sales and eBay for baby clothes. When you find them go ahead and get things in larger sizes as well as the current size.

I do volunteer work at a thrift shop. We get hundreds of used and new baby clothes, we sort them and put out only the best for sale. We price them from 50 cents and up, and the monies go to helping those less fortunate in the community.

Only buy every other size of baby clothes. Kids grow fast and you won't miss the "in between" sizes at all.

I found a wonderful way to help a mother-to-be when my daughter and I went to her baby shower. I was informed that new clothes are donated to thrift stores when they are bringing in new stock.

I went with my daughter to see if I could find some new clothes. What a windfall! I got beautiful new clothing for very little money as did my daughter.

If you have a baby or young child still in diapers, purchase clothes in shades of yellow, orange, or red.
