Pour pickles into colander and rinse well. Rinse jar as well. Place sugar, vinegar, mustard seed, and celery seed into boiler and bring to boil. Let boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Place pickles back in jar with garlic cloves and pour liquid over pickles. Refrigerate for several days before serving.

Combine cucumbers, onions, and salt. Cover with water and set aside for 2 hours. Drain.
Wash and slice cucumbers as thin as possible. Combine with onions, green peppers and salt; mix and let stand 3 hours.
In large bowl, combine cucumbers, onions, salt and garlic. Stir in ice and enough cold water to cover. Let stand about 4 hours or overnight.
