Hi! I just love organizing my closet! I use those "magic hangers" You can hang 5 or more garments on one plastic hanger with vertical holes. A hanger goes into each one, so in the space of one hanger you have 5 garments. I hang one area for Blazers, for knit tops, one for dress tops, and sweaters. put them in according to color. The clothes I wear the most I put in the middle The clothes i wear the least go to the back of the closet Oh I got my magic hangers on Ebay!
I have little space in my closet. How can I make more room for other things that need to go in it, like shoes, my purses, etc.

Know which clothing you wear by reversing the direction of all your hanger heads, now wear what you want and launder as usual, when you return laundered clothes to the closet rehang the hanger in the other direction.

My friend is expecting her first baby in September, she lives with her parents in a very small 2 bedroom house. She's trying to look for ideas on how to organize her closet (which is super small) so she can fit his clothes along with her's in there. Does anyone have any tips or ideas that are cheap?

Hang clothes backwards and rehang them forward after each use. After one year, everything still backwards can be donated.
An easy way to free up drawer space and keep your sweaters nice shape is to buy a hanging organizer, I just bought a Martha Stewart one at Kmart for $9...
When I organize my closet, I put all my slacks in one area on hangers, my blouses in one area on hangers, my sweaters all in one area on hangers, my purses in one area on hangers.

The key to a happy closet is organization, but sometimes that price of that organization doesn't make you happy. There are alternatives to these often pricey shelving systems and organizers.
I have discovered that taking out the rods and shelf and any other parts of a normal closet and changing the inside will give you much more storage space. You might even be able to get rid of one dresser.
Hanging pants up with clothespins becomes a problem with the female shaping of pants so I began hanging mine upside down by the bottom hem. It even creates more room on the rod because the bulk is at the bottom.
I buy children's plastic coat hangers to hang my t-shirts and camisoles. The indentations on the hanger keep the straps from falling off the hanger.
I find that room in my closet is essential to lessening my stress. If you are the same, I have a cool idea I came up with that you might like.
We have a small house with very little storage room. One of the best things we ever did was to invest in an inexpensive closet organizer.
I got a free display rack with a bunch of poles that I disassembled. I hung them flat but 2 inches from the wall out and added a ledge to support the weight and a bar across the top to prevent them from falling forward.
