My 12-year-old has a problem with sweaty palms and feet. This has been a problem since she was a baby. At 12 she is embarrassed by the problem. She constantly has to wipe her hands while writing, drawing, using the computer, etc. She is unable to wear most sandals and some styles of shoes because of the build up of moisture on her soles. Does anyone have a solution to her problem?

I googled this condition and found a sort of anti perspirant for the hands that might help her out. It's called Drysol. Here is a link you can cut and paste.

i also have extemely sweaty hands and feet. yes i was always embarrassed. i have used a product that was supposed to keep them dry. i found them scaly and when lotion would get on them i was so slippery. it was a feeling that is undescribeable. i would have a hard time washing it off. i now use a lot of powder all over my body: as i sweat profusely.

I sweat a lot in the summer and what I usually do is first get a good antibacterial soap and then usually dust with perfumed talc or cornstrach babypowder . I also have to use the doctor scholl's foot insoles. Also, there are anti-perspirants for feet . hope this helps!

My daugther has the same problem and I talked to the doctor he told her to use hand santizer. I don't know why but it really works better than baby powder.

I use Drysol. I received a prescription from my doctor. I only use it on my hands. I am a banker and it is embarassing to shake someone's hand when your is sweaty. I dont think your doctor would recommend to use it both on your hands and feet. Your body still needs to sweat...if it isnt coming out of your palms or feet, it has to come from somewhere!

Good Luck! I suffered with this for my whole life also...Drysol has made a HUGE improvement!

There are oral medications that may help but have the unfortunate side effects of sedation and very dry mouth. I would advise you to take your daughter to a dermatologist who will discuss your treatment options. The drysol really works better on axillary wetness.

It is a condition that you live with or get surgery.

Drysol is ...

INGREDENTS
Aluminium Chloride Hexahydrate 20%.

This is the main ingredient for antiperspirants.

Long before Drysol, my doctor had a pharmacy dispense some. It did not work!

There is a surgery if this is unbearable ... otherwise live with it!

This is a medical condition called hyperhydrosis and can be very embarrassing. I know several folks who have had the surgery to correct the problem in their hands...I don't know if there is a surgical option for feet...I would definitely as your daughter's pediatrician about it...she is getting to an age where it is going to be very socially difficult for her...

That said, the thought of surgery scares the daylights out of me and that is a choice that you & your sweet girl & her doc will have to decide on. I don't know of any other effective treatments that do not have unpleasant side effects (someone else mentioned dry mouth and sedation...ick!) Good luck!

My husband has this same problem and I had never heard of anyone having this before until reading this forum. I didn't know anything could be done about it. I shall suggest Dysol to him...hand sanitizer too. I love to hold hands but his are so ikky and sweaty. SAD.

I heard on the radio the other day that there is a new botox treatment for this condition. The report said that it is very effective. Might be worth checking with your doctor.

It can mean that you have "high acid" in your system, ask your doctor if watching what you eat or drink, makes a difference.

Consult a specialist. It seams that she is overproducing from her glands since she was an infant. There are surgical methods that can permanently resolve this. I dont know if she is too young for surgery , but it is worth a look.

Also if you arm yourself with information now. Later when she is older and becomes a young lady she can make choice either surgery or some other route of therapy.

I have lived with this since childhood. I don't want any surgery! If there are any natural substances that I can use, please tell me. I'm scared if I have to live with it for the rest of my life! Thanx tk cr

For your hands you might want to see a dermatologist or and 'hand' doctor on that because all i can help you with is to put lotion on your hands. for your feet get used to running barefoot. it decreases sweat because your soles will get rough and prevent sweating. I am sorry for your daughter who is my age and has the same problem as me. but The best thing I've tried is antibiotic lotions good luck!

God be with you all people, I know how you feel. I went through the same thing too. I have to wipe my hands on my jeans before I shake with people, even in church, in school I felt embarrassed anytime I shake hands with people. Even my friends asked me why is your palm always sweaty and what have you been doing something like that. I had to pray about it but just a couple of days ago something came up in head, since three years I have been in this great country America every time I take a shower is always hot water so I decided to take a real cold shower and that was the end of sweaty palms and feet. Please try I know it will work for you.

Also at church I'm doing a drama and I have to dance with these boys and its embarrassing! My sister who is six has the same problem and her teacher at school has sent my mom complaints that my sister sweats PROFUSELY! I'm afraid to touch my friends or even have a boyfriend. My boy life stinks because of my hands. Please HELP ME!

I didn't know so many people have this same condition.
I'm 43 and mine actually started when I was in the 3rd grade, I had come to the conclusion that it was from copper poisoning as in the school water fountains had copper piping.

I too was very embarrassed in those days as my school teacher held up my test paper asking me in front of the class why my paper was wet and smudged.........well! also trying to dance with a girl just didn't happen. I've learned to live with it and deal with it the best I can. I've considered the surgery procedure but don't want to take a risk on the side effects. The strangest part of my condition is that it mostly happens after I remove my shoes?

I have sweaty palms to ever since I was younger. Now I'm 15 and it became more of a serious problem. I can't write as consistently due to my sweaty palms. I have trouble giving hand shakes. In tennis i have problems gripping my racket since my hands sweated so much. When I swung at the ball, I lost the grip of my racket and it dropped to the floor. It was embarrassing :/ .

I have the same problem. I'm almost 30 now and have dealt with it my whole life. I used to get really down about it. It's all I thought about for a long time. But I've started to come to a better place with it, and I think once you realize it is a part of you that is not going to change. It makes it a little easier. From what I understand it is some kind of anxiety disorder, and although it is so hard to try and not think about it. I swear its the only thing that seems to work. I know when I dwelling on it, just makes it happen much more.

Same here! I've had this for a long time. I always have to wipe my sandals thoroughly with a damp cloth after wearing them. WHILE wearing them, when the sweat dries up under my feet, it can get real itchy too. Even as I'm sitting here typing this, I have a handkerchief over the mouse so that my sweaty hands don't dirty or leave marks on it, and a house mat under my feet - without it the floor starts to feel sort of dusty from the dried sweat.

It can be really embarrassing during PE when the warm ups aren't even over yet, and you're already drenched in sweat. One weird thing though, they say that excessive sweating = hyperhidrosis, runs in the family, but throughout my whole family, even my extended one, NO ONE has excessive sweating. Huh?

Hi I have googled it and the best 2 products to try are drysol and driclor. This is annoying, and hearing these statements from people are like hearing myself speak. I hate this sweaty palm thing allot.
