child chasing a bubbleMy little niece loves when we blow bubbles together, but there's always a little frown on her face when she's chasing them and they pop. I was buying her these little tubes of unbreakable bubble solution that worked okay, but not great. Here's a recipe to make your own that are very durable.

Total Time: 3 minutes

Yield: One jar of bubble solution

Supplies:

  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 1 Tbsp dish soap
  • 1 tsp glycerin
  • 1 jar
  • 1 straw
supplies for project.

Steps:

  1. Mix all ingredients in jar, shake well, and let sit for a day.
  2. If you have a very clean glove or sock, you can put it on your hand and even catch the bubbles!

Dissolve 2 tablespoons sugar into 2 cups warm water. Slowly add 1 cup tear-free baby shampoo. Stir well but gently. This is GREAT for kids birthday parties and for the younger kids that can't play with the big brother's and sister's bubble solution!

I've heard there's a homemade recipe for the liquid used for kid's blowing bubbles. Anyone have it? I've heard it's dish washing liquid and water, but what would the measurements be? Thanks.

Also, has anyone ever purchased an electric bubble machine? I saw one in New Orleans on a upper balcony last year. It was really cool!

I just found a recipe that makes bubbles that last the other day. Here it is: 6 Cups water, 1 cup corn syrup, 2 Cups regular strength Joy dish washing liquid. Mix together and blow!

There are a lot of recipes for bubbles. Most are a combination of dish soap, water and glycerin(avail in drugstroe) to stabilize the bubbles. Mix and allow to "age" for a few days.

recipes will tell you how long. I mix them in an old 2 liter soda bottle-clearly labeled and if you have little ones, stored out of reach.

I bought a small bubble machine from Wal-Mart for my day care kids. They LOVE it! It's called "Kids Bubble Generator". It uses a lot of batteries, though, so get rechargeables!
