Remedies for Damaged Hair

January 17, 2008

A woman looking at the ends of her damaged hair.Fabulous hair repair tip! Vitamin E capsules are a CHEAP and fantastic remedy for dry hair, split ends and damaged hair. Take about 20 or so capsules (depending on damage...mine was severe!) and cut them open with a pair of small scissors. Take the gel and put on the ends of your damaged hair. It is tedious and time consuming but it really works!

Continue until all ends are covered. Work the gel in well and leave on your hair for at least an hour. I left mine on 2 hours while I cleaned house. Then shampoo and style as usual. You won't believe the difference! Try it!

Want to give life back to dull, lifeless hair? This works for "all" types. Beat 3 eggs; add 2 tablespoons olive or safflower oil and 1 teaspoon vinegar. Apply to you hair and cover with plastic wrap. Wait a half hour and then shampoo well. You get revitalized, lustrous shine and bounce.

I moved recently and now have well water. I have brown hair and blonde highlights. After using the well water my hair is such a bad rusty color where the highlights were. Can you please tell me if there is anything I can do to get my hair color back? Thank you much!

yes, i am a stylist and our salon has a treatment called Malibu. If you go to your salon she should know how to handle the removal of the coloration without damage or redoing anything chemically.

our salon charges around ten bucks and a tip if they please.

I went to the hair dresser for the first time. My hair was really long and thick and my mom didn't want to do it anymore because it would take 2 hours.

The first time i went to the hair dresser, I got it straightened for school. And it looked a little shorter, but you couldn't really tell. The 2nd time I went to a different place, and they put some kind of chemicals in it because my hair was getting shorter throughout the year.

Now my hair is up to my shoulders and keeps breaking off. But I'm afraid to go back to the hair dresser. But I really want my hair to grow back. Please help.

To remedy any dryness in the hair from straightening, perming, coloring, bleaching, etc. try mixing your favorite hair conditioner with a teaspoon of olive oil or jojoba oil.

Apply this to your hair while dry, cover with a shower cap and sleep on it.

My hair is broken off at the center of the shaft and it is very brittle. I have not had a perm since last October. All I have been doing to my hair is washing it and setting it. I need a perm very badly. I have never had a problem with my hair before.

I am 46 and I don't know what happened. It's thin and broken off around the edges. I am worried; I have always had thick hair.

I am on a lot of medication for SLE (systemic lupus ereth.), fibromyalgia, as well as multiple problems caused from both. I have colored my hair for years, only store bought. I have used one brand for years. I am 60 years old and never had a problem. My hair has gotten so dry, especially the hair that is underneath (it is thick), that it causes it to stick out.

The length is just below the neck line, about an inch. The damaged hair has a wave to it also, the rest is perfectly straight. I use a blow dryer on low to straighten out the damaged hair and was using a straightening iron.

Nothing I have used, over-the-counter, and different shampoos and conditioners has helped. My doctor said I am on most of these medications for life. I had oily hair when I was younger. Please, do you have an inexpensive idea that will help me out? I don't have a lot of things about myself I like, but I really loved my hair and was proud of it. Even though I live in Florida, I am not out in direct sun as it can cause the lupus to increase activity. Also, with mayonnaise, do you wet your hair first? Thank you so much for your help! If you need more information you can contact me through this site.

My hair has become damaged due to chemicals used for straightening. The roots of my hair have become so dry and brittle that when I touch them with my fingers it feels like I've been pricked by a thorn. Please give me some tips to regain my natural hair.

I have very long hair and it's in layers. For some reason I've noticed that hair that is in layers once it's damaged it looks horrible.
I don't have any split ends and it really don't want to cut my hair, but the bottom layer is pretty damaged. Please help. Do you have any recommendations?

I was in the foster care system and my foster mom put a perm in my hair when I was two. Growing up it's been really tough, my hair is so brittle and hard. Now what do I do? I'm 17 now and even though this happened when I was 2 there is no telling what else she did. How do I manage my hair by myself? What kinds of oil or grease will work? Please help me.

Dyed my hair about 2 months ago and straight permed it last night and now its falling out! I put blonde high lights in my hair in April and just put a relaxer in my hair last night. My hair is super elasticy and breaks when I brush it. It also feels almost like I have bad leave in shampoo in it. It feels dirty and is frizzy.

I'm too afraid to brush it because I don't wanna lose more, but I have to. I've heard to not use shampoo and get Moroccan oil and deep conditioners and use egg. I really, really don't wanna cut it. Does anyone know about how long it takes to fix this if I take good care of my hair? Any other ideas? I'm desperate!
