This is a recipe that I got from my mother over 40 years ago. She called them drop sugar cookies, so I renamed them this year. These are crispy cookies that melt in your mouth. Almost every time I take them to a potluck party, I am asked for the recipe.

Mix sugar, butter; add egg and flavoring. Sift dry ingredients; stir in. Refrigerate 2-3 hours; roll very thin.
Cream butter and vanilla. Add sugar gradually creaming, till light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each.
In large bowl, cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, and vanilla.
Mix all together and chill dough. Make into balls. Roll in sugar, press with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 to 15 minutes.
Melt butter. With a mixer, beat eggs with sugar. Add melted butter and beat until creamy. Add flavoring and milk and beat well.
