I am in the process of building my own wheel (electric). I am following a design that I found online. Here is the link, I will let you know how it goes.

Also, if you haven't already, check out the site for some kiln suggestions.

For those of you who are looking to build your own pottery wheel, I have found a good basic template at

http://www.motherearthnews.com.

Put "Pottery Wheel" in the search box and their article "Build Your Own Potter's Kick Wheel" link will come up.

I looked in the Buute county library website and found a book called "Building Pottery Equipment". It was made in 1975 but I would check your library and see if they have it.

I'm going to pick mine up in about an hour. If the instructions look good, I'll tell you all and if you want, I can send you them.

O yes, please i like to know the steps to follow when building an electric potter's wheel. The parts of an electric potters wheel and their indivudual function.

Also to know what kind of motor and what load is good for the carriage of the motor, and to finally know the types of electric potters wheel.

Dear friends, I have just made a gas pottery kiln at 100 * 100 * 80. It's internal temperature doesn't rise higher than 700 C. In addition, the temperature of the kiln doesn't emit anywhere. Any ideas or suggestions to solve the problem will be appreciated! Regards

Hi all. I used randy smith's plans...and needless to say, it was a challenge. My question is...were the heck do I find a throw head? is a "banding wheel" the same thing? Any ideas?

Also, with these plans, if anyone else has used them, how did it go with the flywheel? Did you use the diamond plate steel or pour your own from cement? Thanks.
