Since retiring I have found a new passion, making quilts for homeless children and abused women and children. I have used up all my fabric stash and would love to find places/persons that might be willing to donate fabric for this cause. I live on Social Security and cannot afford the fabric on my own.

You could write a mission statement and send to neighboring companies or fabric stores asking if they'd like to help out.
In addition post you can post on NextDoor for donations. :)
This is a wonderful thing you are doing and it is for a great cause. I would try and contact a local newspaper or even a news station to tell them your story. They might even air this on TV and people will be so willing to help out.
Hope you can utilize some of the suggestions offered.
Perhaps you could write up a short summery of what you are doing and what you need to be able to continue doing this and then add why you cannot afford to purchase supplies on your own (age, SS, etc). Be sure to state what type materials you need (such as all cotton?) unless you plan to use all types.
I would suggest you make a check off list of the places you have made donations as well as any churches in your neighborhood (you do not have to be a member) and any charity thrift stores that are in your area.
Take your flyers to all of these places as these are usually the places that are most helpful.
If you belong to any clubs be sure to talk with members or just pay a visit and ask for help (Women's Club, Garden Club, Shriner's & other clubs all have women's auxiliaries and you do not have to be a member to ask for help.
Check out any quilting shops in your area (zip code Google) and take your flyer as these are very good sources and many will help a good cause.
I am an educator and we are looking for fleece fabric. Our elementary kids are participating in a STEAM day and we are planning on making dog toys for our local animal shelter. Is there anyone that can point me in a direction to get fabric donated for this event?
I would go and talk with your local fabric stores in the area. If they know you are hosting this even they might donate the fabric to you. Also, send home notes with the kids at school. There are a lot of parents who sew or do crafts and they could also help in donating the fabric needed for this project.
Where I am all of the big box stores have donation fatigue and will not help. Some will offer discounts if you are willing to pay something for the items. Most have 50% off coupons so they will go slightly more than that if you can help defray the costs yourself.
Setting up a go fund me for the project is the best way to raise money for projects like this. You set your goal and ask your social media contacts to help (and share).
The other option is to put a notice on your local Freecycle or NextDoor.com or if you have Facebook market place groups that are local and ask for donations of the fabric...you may get something that way.

What I see as your biggest problem is the type of material that you plan to use. This will limit your fabric donations considerably.
Sometimes our local craft stores will allow someone involved in projects like this to post a flyer on their notice boards but you have to be very specific about what you need - type and especially the smallest size you can use.
Flyer should have all information (brief) with contact numbers and a picture or two helps - either of people involved or pictures of items you will be making.
Google quilting shops in your area and see if they will allow a poster.
Our local Humane Society Thrift Store also allows this so check with them also.
Go Fund Me is a good idea if you still have time to get it set up.
Craigslist and Freecycle have wanted sites but be very specific about what you can use - not just 'fabric'.
Where can I get donations of fabric and thread for a youth group? I teach them dance and help them stay off the street and teach them self respect. I need fabric for their dance costumes and I cannot cover the cost alone.

How may I get fleece donated to make hats for needy children and the homeless. Our community service classes would like to make hats that require little sewing to keep people warm during the winter months.

Thank you for taking on this noble project! During these troubled times, finding new fabric for free can be a challenge. Besides Craigslist and Freecycle, I suggest Goodwill Outlets, which sell goods by the pound. It takes some muscle work and time to go through the bins to find yardage, and of course it MUST be washed, but multi-yard lengths can be found. There are special shopping protocols for CV19, so check with your local store before heading out.
What a blessing!! I hope you can find lots of sources. I would put a notice on your Facebook page or Instagram asking for help or even set up a GoFundMe page (super easy to do) to get the cash to help you do this. Unfortunately most stores have "charity fatigue" and will not help by giving things for free. Not out of being mean, but now more than ever, they are suffering and there is just no extras to give.
That said, if you comes in with cash, some may give you a nice discount if you can show them that it is for a charity and has had the money raised by a GoFundMe or other charitable finance source.

I am looking for fabric donations to make pillow cases for children with cancer. Where do I begin?
I'm from a church where our ladies are making fleece blankets to donate to hospitals and shelters, etc. and we are looking for donations of fleece asap.

My last suggestion is one of my favorite things to do which is barter....maybe your group and another church or religious group could do trades...for example if they are knitting baby hats for preemies, perhaps they would trade you their fleece for your unwanted yarn.
As a last result you could approach your local big box charities like Goodwill and Salvation Army and see if they would work with you. I have heard some limited success stories with this....but not in my neck of the woods.

I used to work at a sewing factory, and they throw away lots. Check your local phone book to locate sewing factories and just ask, you'll be surprised.
