If you have a urinary tract infection have a baking soda cocktail.Mix 1/2 teaspoon of soda in eight ounce glass of water and stir, and drink it.Baking soda raises the pH levels of irritating, acidic urine.

I am suffering urinary tract infection (UTI) for four days. My aunt who frequently suffers the same suggested that I should drink coconut water or what we call fresh buko juice. The water is taken from the inside of a young coconut or "buko" (in our dialect).
I read recently that Alka Seltzer helps with urinary tract infections. I can't remember where I read this or how/when to take the Alka Seltzer. Can anyone out there help me? Thank you!
I have not heard of alka seltzer, but I have heard of drinking two glasses of cranberry juice or cran-grape if you prefer the taste
I can't for the life of me understand why people treat themselves with bogus claims such as Alka Seltzer and risk possible injury to themselves.Go see a urologist and get the correct treatment. Some times Cranberry juice can sometimes help with minor problems but the juice one buys in a grocery store is high in sugar and low in cranberries. Not enough to be of any help.
hi there
i work at a drs office. we tell people to buy urostat over the counter and drink lots of water. but if you know you have a uti you need to go to dr and have a culture done.
I have a bladder disease and anything with acid causes me a great deal of pain, similar to a bladder infection, but more intense. Cranberry juice is a no-no for patients such as myself, due to the acid content. A good soak in a bath of baking soda helps sometimes and even drinking a bit will help reduce the acid.
Remember, your skin is the largest organ you have, anything that touches your skin filters through your body. So as an interstitial cystitis patient, I use no lotions with fragrances or artificial ingredients. I can't use perfumes, or be around people that wear perfume. No sodas or anything with carbonation is allowed. You can find this info at www.ic-network.com.
See a urologist and make sure you have an actual infection. Blood in the urine does not indicate infection, don't let any dr tell you that it does. Bacteria is the sign of infection and a good round of antibiotics should take care of it.
Hope this helps,
Tina
Hey, it may be too late this time if you already have the urinary tract infection. But I used to have them like alot...several times a year...sure did get to be old going to the doctor for the same stupid thing. He told me and I just didn't listen. Okay people. You HAVE to drink lots and lots of water daily. To track my water I keep myself a gallon of cold water in the refrigerator that is mine alone (the guys have theirs they drink out of) that way I can keep track by the end of each day and make sure I got in what I was supposed to drink. Since I have started doing this about 3 plus years ago I no longer have all these visits to the doctor for UTI infections. Since cranberry juice doesn't hurt me I also drink a glass of it a day. For trbrown do you have anything like acid reflux? I do and found out that I can have mango juice which is very low in acid and doesn't seem to bother me. I had given up juice for years because of this. They also say papaya juice is low in acid too but I haven't seen it. The mango juice is sold at walmart (del valle) is the brand name.
I agree TOTALLY. Just see a regular M.D. Hope you get well!
I also get UTI's several times a year. Drinking tons of water does help. I've also stopped drinking soda, just one will start to give me symptoms of UTI.
Here is a web site on natural cures. I am not saying don't go to the Dr. but when you have one comeing on and it's too late at night, you want some relief until you can get in the next day. naturalcurereviews.com/
I used the alka seltzer one and it worked. I have always drank tons of water so I have since added 1 glass of cranberry juice a day and haven't had anymore problems.
If you are sure it is NOT something worse, I'd first begin taking one high potency Acidolphylus
capsule once a day until symptoms disappear.(Whole Foods refrig. section. I use Bluebonnet brand, "Milk Free plus FOS") At same time I'd take about 50 mg. of BioZinc(Soloray
Are there any remedies, old or NEW that will help me from getting bladder infections so often? I know the usual things, if you have anything unusual I would love to hear about it. I am trying to drink more distilled water and have less caffeine and such. Is there anything else I SHOULD be doing for this?
I started drinking cranberry juice and orange juice on alternate days before my breakfast. The orange juice was to get rid of any kidney stones I may have (I'm kinda prone to those) and the cranberry juice was for bladder infections. Since I started doing that and eating yogurt in the evening for an evening snack I seemed to have stopped getting bladder infections. (when I get tired of the cranberry juice I exchange it for cranberry and apple cider just for a slight change of pace doesn't seem to work quite as good but I mostly do that in the winter cause I like my hot apple cider hehe). Been doing it forreligiously for over a yr and been problem free since (was kinda hit and miss before that)
I would get frequent infections until I learned to wipe "front to back" and also go to the bathroom after a bath. Seems that the water sometimes
"backflows" and contaminates. When you get medication, always take the entire course to make sure the infection is completely gone. If not, a low grade infection will stay and continue.
I did the cranberry juice too. I drank it for a couple years and had at least a juice glass full each day. I don't know why I stopped but I haven't had the problem since. The other thing I've done is use probiotics which is similar to what is in yogurt. I got tired of eating yogurt all the time. It not only helped with the bladder infections but also yeast infections. Good luck!
Drinking too much soda can cause bladder infections so be cautious and limit your soda intake.
You can take a bath with 1 cup of baking soda to help relieve bladder infection symptoms. Be sure to sit in the tub with your knees bent and hip width apart to allow the water to get to the area properly.
Since cranberry juice can have lots of sugar in it. I take cranberry capsules. Less calories and I find it much easier to remember. Can get them at most health food stores. The are also easier to take with you when you travel or to take to work etc.
First of all, get out of the tub - use the shower. I used to get infection about once a month until I started showering - about 55 years ago! Only had infection once in that time and it was because I wanted a bubble bath :>)
If you have too many "bladder infections"You should get checked for interstitial cystitis. Appears as bladder infections that just don't end.
Keep your feet and lower legs dry and warm. I know this sounds odd but try it and see if it helps you also.
This is what helps me. I take cranberry pills--1 or 2 per day. Works for me. I also eat yogurt every other day.
I have noticed a connection between yeast overgrowth and bladder infections. I think thats why yogurt works. Yogurt controls yeast overgrowth. I take these pills called Candex. It controls yeast better than yogurt. I have overgrowth in my colon, but you can have it anywhere in your body! You can buy it at Vitamin Shoppe. Wonderful stuff!
Cranberry juice, and just lots of water. Go to the bathroom as soon as you feel the urge. Also, urinate after sex.
My daughter at a young age of 7 years old kept getting bladder infections. I do not allow my children to drink alot of soft drinks, so that was not the problem. The Dr. recommended seeing specialist in this field, and we followed up. She had some problems in the forming of the tubes from her kidney to her bladder that caused all the infections due to urine back up. She had a simple operation to correct the tubes formation, and has done great ever since, she is now 21 years old.
All these suggestions are good, particularly the cranberry tablets. Also, very important, when you go to the bathroom, lean forward and press all the urine out of your bladder, even if it takes you a few minutes. My daughter was having numerous bladder infections until she started doing this and she hasn't had one since.
Take 2 tablespoons of cinnamon powder and 1 teaspoon of honey put into a glass/cup add warm water and drink, it destroys germs in the bladder
