Storing Projects in Progress
I do a lot of cross-stitching and to organize projects in progress I put threads in snack-size plastic bags. Then I use an old eyeglass case to hold scissors and needles. I use a large ziplock bag for the hoop, thread, and material.
Using Empty Popcorn Tins
Use them on the porch or deck in summer as an ashtray for people who smoke. Fill with sand or cat litter. Use a litter scooper or an old strainer for cleaning it. Save the lid to cover when wind comes up or rain, or when not in use.
Organizing Legos in Tins
Use the popcorn tins you get a variety of popcorn in. You can throw items that they created and don't want to tear apart in these. Another thing you can do is use tackle box or divided craft boxes and separate each color or type into each section.
Being single and needing to watch what I make and save money, I make my own sloppy joes (slushburgers).
List And Plan Errands To Save Gas
The night before you do shopping, errands, appointments, make a list of all of them and times of appointments and addresses. Then add the addresses and look at a map of city and plan accordingly, for example "Dr.'s appointment 10 am".
Make a List of Library Due Dates
To remember to return library books, I would place a bin next to the door. Have a canvas tote in the bin. Place a clipboard by the door. Make a list of all the books when you bring them home and place it on clipboard.
Onesie For Storing Plastic Bags
Take a child's onesy pajamas with feet. Then sew up the cuffs at opening. If you want to, sew the upper arms where connected to the body of PJs.
Watch For Pests In Secondhand Items
So many people like to "dumpster dive" or find furniture that needs to be picked up and hauled away. I moved into an apartment building which has been infested with several types of bugs, bed bugs, cockroaches, and who knows what else.
Get Kids to Eat Magic Oatmeal
Several kids brought soda and candy bars for breakfast. I said no to that and made oatmeal. They never had oatmeal and refused to eat it. I told them it was magic oatmeal. Before I dished the oatmeal into bowls, I put a couple of drops of food coloring in the bottom of bowl.
Organizing Emails for Yahoo Email Accounts
Yahoo has an application which, when allowed, will automatically organize your emails, set up folders, and everything else with just a click. Go to the left of email box, under Apps is this free tool.
Copy Recipes And Store In Protective Sheets
You can take all your recipes and copy them with a scanner to a computer, print, or use copy machine at library and they become the same size page. Some pages will have more than one recipe, so make sure they are in the same category.
Protect Electrical Cords With Rubber Hoses
Use rubber hose according to size and amount of cords you are trying to keep from getting chewed by animals. This will protect your cords also when moving, from nicks that may occur. Just mark with fingernail polish what the cord is for.
For remembering what keys go with what, use the best invention ever, nail polish. Color code the keys red for house, pink for garden shed, etc. Then place them in plastic baggies or on key chains that are color coded as well.
Color Coded Computer Cables
When you unplug your computer as you are revamping a room, or planning to use it in another room, here is a solution to tearing down and setting it back up.
Binder for Organizing Craft Projects
For organizing craft projects, I use binders for project ideas with protective sleeves. I also keep a list of items needed to finish a project. So in one sleeve would be the pattern for a cross-stitch project and a list of items for finishing the project.
