Silver Post Medal for All Time! 288 Posts

Hello, I am great granny to 4 and granny to 4 and mom to 3. My Hubby and I have been living in Southern Ca. for many years. This past Aug. we celebrated 60 years together. I love gardening and sharing what I know about flowers and floral design. And I like to take pictures of gardens, mine and others.

We fly our flag year round and support our troops everywhere.
God Bless the U.S.A.

In the winter I like to make soup/stews in large amounts to share with neighbors and friends. Cornbread too.

And I believe that God gives us the ability to make right choices and wrong ones and hope we learn from the mistakes we make. Try to do better. Love one another. Care about each other. Help when you can. And Smile brightly ever day AND above all ,Share hugs, love and compassion.

I wish you shoes with good soles, Tires for your cars that don't have a slow leak, I wish that you don't have to go out in the snow or rain for bread and milk , That you have a cozy room with a log burning, good music, low lights ..."Take care of you for me " A Bob Cummings quote many years ago.

PAY IT FORWARD is a concept I also believe in.

Tipsy Flower Pots (The Path Garden) - close up

Tipsy Flower Pots (The Path Garden)I had been wanting to make on of these planters for The Path Garden for a couple of years. Just hadn't gotten around to it. The 99 Cent store had the clay pots so I got 5 and asked DH to go get the rebar for it.

An old black and white photo of people swimming and sunning.

Take a Short Car RideYou have all heard about "the good old days". Well, they were. We never have had enough money to throw away. We traveled once every year or two to see family.

Nearly Sugar Free PieThis can be made in a few minutes and in the fridge before dinner. Here are three pictures for a step by step recipe.

Cream Puffs (1920)This is from a Jan. 15, 1920 newspaper clipping. A simply delicious scratch recipe.

Clay Pot Gal

Clay Pot GalMy good friend Andrea, lives in an apartment. Outside her door is a place she can put a decoration or plant. She had one that "disappeared". She went looking and found it on the floor above her. DH wanted to make this to replace it for her.

Freezing grated zest using wax paper

Freezing Zest in Wax PaperMy good friend visited a few days and showed me how she freezes lemon or orange zest and juice from one fruit. She uses a zester or fine grater on waxed paper, then folds it over several times and lays it flat.

Chicken and Black Bean ChiliI submitted this because so many people like black beans and Mexican flavors. I have not made it and most likely will not because of the chiles and some of the other ingredients (allergic).

Children's Garden Gifts (The Path Garden)

Children's Garden Gifts (The Path Garden)Looks like someone has been busy decorating in the "Path Garden" again. Hubby found these last Saturday. He hung two of the bird houses in trees, put the smallest on a pole back in the garden, and placed the shells back where they were left.

Butter Almond CrunchSounded easy so I'm going to try making this for Christmas gift giving along with my favorite Divinity Fudge. The Pineapple Fudge was a hit last year.

Recipe for a Happy MarriageJust being sentimental. ;-)

Jar with lights.

Warning About Lights in JarsThriftyFun recently had an article about using glass jars. Notice the wires that were taken out of the glass vase. They are discolored due to the heat produced inside the glass.

Photo of an angel carved out of soap.

Soap AngelHere is a picture of the soap angel I carve for birthdays and Christmas for my Friends, Neighbors and Children. I learned this from a Girl Scout leader over 60 years ago.

howling coyote and saguaro cactus fountain

Old Fountain into New PlanterOur old southwest fountain finally "bit the dust" and no longer held water. Try as we would, it could not be saved. So we decided to fill it with dirt and added some plants and a bird nest to add interest to the front yard. We always try not to add to the landfill.

Path garden chair.

Path Garden ChairsIn the Path Garden I made a place for visitors to stop and rest if they want to. Two green chairs were donated. I painted flowers on the chairs and wrote "Stop and Rest in the Garden Chair" across the top and "Please Do Not Remove" across the bottom.

Buddy The DogBuddy came to us as a stray. The vet said he had a crushed larynx, probably from a collar or choke chain. She said to use a harness instead. Since he is a runaway dog, that's what we do.

Recovering Aloe Plant

Recovering Aloe PlantHere is that same aloe plant after the January freeze we had in Southern California. It is recovering.
