Silver Recipe Medal for All Time! 154 Recipes
I like to read, crochet, tat, and do a few other crafts. I love canning and cooking, gardening, swimming, etc.
I make my own deodorant (better than anything commercial!), shampoo, conditioner, household cleaners, and detergent. I am trying to go greener all the time, and to be more self-sufficient. I love seeing all the canning jars on the shelves full of soups, condiments, salsa, jams, etc etc. It's a frugal, fun, healthy way to live!

Shampoo Ingredients Can Cause Hair ThinningWhen choosing your next bottle of shampoo, check the ingredients for SLS (sodium laurel sulfate) or SLES (sodium laurel ether sulfate). These are very common detergents added to many personal care products like shampoo, soap, even toothpaste.

Breakfast ParfaitI was reading about the healthiest foods in the world, and came to the part about oats. It reminded me about a recipe I used to love, that fell by the wayside for some reason.

Avocado MayonnaiseThis is an easy, healthy substitute for traditional mayonnaise. You might find that you like it even better. It also makes a good dip.

Cinnamon rolls made from sweet dough.

Rich Sweet DoughI hadn't made this in a long time, and had forgotten what a pleasure it is to work with this dough. It has less sugar than a lot of recipes, so it isn't overly sweet. You do not have to knead this dough to develop the yeast and gluten.

Crispy Crunchy Corn ChipsThese are just as the title says - crispy and crunchy, and you can flavor them in many ways. The recipe specifies Parmesan cheese, which is very good, but you can use onion powder, Mrs. Dash, chili powder, cayenne, or whatever you like best.

My Frugal Life: Furnish Your Home With Used ItemsSo you are young and getting ready to make your own home for the first time, whether an apartment or your first house. Of course, you want to decorate to impress as well as to express your taste.

Insulate Windows With Bubble-wrap Year RoundInstead of expensive window insulation kits that are hard to install and can be used only one year, try this: buy bubble wrap. Cut it to fit each window.

Chocolate Pie

Chocolate PieThis recipe is so versatile! It can be used as a pie filling, frosting and filling for a 2 or 3 layer cake, or as a mousse. It is so, so easy, and has never failed me. It is also really, really delicious.
