Pump for Precise Amount of Salad Dressing
When visiting a friend she was cussing about salad dressing bottles dispensing nothing or too much. I recommended that she dig out an empty shampoo pumper, clean it out and let the salad dressing drain into it overnight through a funnel. Now she has salad with just enough dressing.
Use Dental Floss for Sewing
Dental floss is cheap and much stronger than any thread. It works extremely well for sewing on buttons, tool holsters on jeans or anything, that you have fixed once before.
Improve Freezer Access
I use small meal size containers for berries to go with pancakes or deserts. The first trick is to turn over every second container, so that it's lid rim is down. I get one extra container per row that way.
Shucking and Removing Silk from Corn

Fade-proof Garden Plant Name Tags
If you take a short length of 1/2 inch water pipe and cut it lengthwise about 1/4 inch with a hack saw and then cut one side in to your cut, it gives you a curved embossing tool. Making a straight embossing tool is easy. Any piece of metal with the same thickness as your curved tool will do.
Tips For Making A Kiln At Home

Use Micro-Fiber for Napkins
Instead of using paper napkins or short lived cloth napkins, I bought a stack of 8" x 8" micro-fiber cloths in the mid 90's. They can absorb 8 oz (1 glass) of water, each.
Light Candles With A Spaghetti Noodle
Use uncooked spaghetti or spaghettini to light gas furnaces, fireplaces, BBQs, gas lamps, gas fridges, gas ranges, anything with a pilot light, even candles.
Make a Fire Extinguisher Cover
It might not be illegal in your area, but it would certainly be very irresponsible if you don't have at least one fire extinguisher in your home. Yes, I know they are ugly dust catchers. However, it's easy to make good looking covers for them.
