I lick my clean thumb and finger and twist it at the top of the bag to start it. I open the top of the bag then I put it back together holding the whole top together then slide my hand down pushing that little air bubble which has formed, this way it will open the bag all the way to the bottom.

Ammonia To Whiten Clothes
I found a way to whiten and brighten my clothes without bleach or Oxyclean, which I am allergic to. I take a bucket of approximately 1/2 gallon of very warm to hot water and 1 cup of lemon ammonia.

I have made capes out of twin size black flat bed sheets. They're $5 at Wal-Mart. Just find the middle of 1 edge of the sheet, and cut straight to the opposite corner on the bottom. Do the same on the other side.
Killing Dandelions with Sulfate of Ammonia
I have had great success killing off my dandelions with sulfate of ammonia, the 21-0-0 stuff. After watering, I just put a teaspoon of the dry crystals in the center of the damp dandelion.
Reusing Gray Water
I have several ways of saving water besides not letting the water run while brushing my teeth. When washing clothes, I drain the rinse water into 5 gallon buckets. Then I dump the water back in the machine to wash the next load.
I have just dehydrated a batch of turkey jerky. Amounts are per 1 1/2 lbs. ground turkey. The recipe can be multiplied.
Heat water, salt and sugar to boiling. Simmer for 5 additional minutes. Remove from heat; stir in passion fruit juice. Cool to room temperature.

Bottle Wind Chimes
I make the wind chimes out of liquor bottles, wine bottles, and this one happens to be a wine cooler bottle. I use a glass cutter and cut off the bottom. I use a ceramic knife sharpener to smooth the sharp edges. If it has a screw on top, that's a plus.

Use Steel Cans In The Garden

Zucchini Tea Crisps
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a mixing bowl, cream margarine or butter and sugar. Beat in lime peel, lime juice and eggs. Stir in flour and squash, chill shape into 1 inch balls on greased cookie sheet.
Pineapple Apricot Zucchini Jam
Boil another 15 minutes. Add 1 large and 1/2 of 1 small package apricot Jello Mix well and seal as for jam. I like apricot flavor Jello the best, but any flavor works equally well.
Camp Cooking Tips
By using lids whenever possible, you will greatly reduce the cooking time required for many foods. Prepare soups, stews or chili etc. ahead of time. Freeze and keep in cooler. Reheat for a quick meal.
