Treating Dry Cracked Heels
A major cause of dry cracked heels in women comes after menopause. Hormonal changes are a major culprit. All of our glands are changing. The oil glands slow down oil production. There isn't much you can do except for diligent care.
Discarding Used Sewing Machine Needles
This tip is too easy, but I never thought of it. I always wrapped mine in duct tape. My sewing machine instructor said that she puts her old ones in an empty medicine container, keeps it in the drawer till full then tosses. I love this idea.
Flannel Swiffer Squares with Endust
I watch garage sales and the Goodwill for really cheap flannel king size sheets. I cut them into Swiffer squares. When I use them, I spray with Endust first.
Have Groom's Family Help With Wedding Costs
When planning your wedding, ask the groom's family to be in charge of, and pay for any alcohol beverages served. If you aren't serving alcohol, the groom's parents can pay for another part of the reception.
Unclogging Hair Spray Nozzle or Pump
Hairspray cans always clogged? What a waste. Such an easy solution!

Many different medicines can cause your scalp to itch. There isn't any long term remedy for this.
Forever Clean Shower Stall
This is a motivational tip, as we all already know how to clean our shower stall.
Don't Bother With Homemade Beauty Products
Have you been told that mayonnaise is a great conditioner for your hair? How about making your own sugar scrub for your face, or egg white for a facial mask. Science has spent years and millions to find the best products for our hair and skin. There are many inexpensive products that work wonderfully. Food is to be eaten, not smeared on our face and in our hair.
Newer Plastic Grocery Bags Disintegrate
Don't we love to re-use those plastic bags from the grocery store? I store things in them, and a lot of women cut them into strips and crochet them. Those strips are called "plarn."
Keep Toothbrush Germ Free
Are you sick and tired of those awful toothbrush holders that need to be cleaned out constantly? Don't they gross you out? Have you been hearing on TV how filled with germs your bathroom is?
Use Shallow Dish and Sponge For Rubber Stamps
I use a shallow glass pie dish. Set a sponge of any type in the center. Do not use the scratchy side of any sponge, only the soft side. Pour warm water in the dish about half way up the sponge.
Consider Nature When Choosing Paint
Some of you may recognize this suggestion, as I have written it several times. When I am in doubt about paint color I take a look at nature; I consider green to be a neutral color. Green grass, trees, leaves of all shades. Green seems to go with any color.
Easy Roasted Turkey
I always dreaded the clean up after roasting a turkey for Thanksgiving. The whole idea of thawing for three days, cleaning etc. wasn't something I looked forward to doing with a 40 hour work week, and 3 kids; and husband that never helped in the kitchen.
Organize Current Photos First
If you are overwhelmed with years of unorganized photos, start with the current ones first, and get them organized.
Gargle With Salt Water
At the first sign of a sore throat, gargle with a warm solution of salt and water. Salt is very healing. Then call the doctor.
Avoid Gossip in a Small Town
Here's some advise from someone who has lived in small towns all of my life until now. In small towns, everyone is related. Don't ever enter into gossip because you will be talking about someones cousin, brother in law, step mom, step sister or step brother.
Old Fashioned Applesauce
When she was still alive, my granny and I used to take the apples and cut them into quarters. We left the skin on, and the seeds in. It was fast and easy. We would fill a roaster pan full of them, and add only about one half to one cup of water.
Tips For Cleaning A Garbage Disposal
I use baking soda. Make sure the power is off. Pour into the garbage disposal, then take a scratchy sponge and put your hand in there. Clean the walls and under the rubber flaps.
Cleaning Rubber Stamps
Use baby wipes in their container, don't take them out, leave them flat right in the container. When you need to clean the ink off the rubber stamp, just open the lid and stamp, stamp, stamp.
Embellish An Old T-Shirt
I take old T-shirts and cut off the binding around the neck. There is no need to cut deeper as this will stretch far enough making a scoop neckline. Then comes the fun part. Use a decorative stitch on your sewing machine to sew around the neckline.
Have Fun When Journaling
Do you love to journal? Me too. Here are some tips for your journaling.
How To Store Crochet Doilies
I love to crochet doilies with #10 thread and #6 crochet hook. I block them, then when thoroughly dry, place on a paper plate. I have about 10 stacked each on a paper plate on top of each other, stored in a cupboard.
Eat More Protein For Snacks
The best diet snack is protein. It will satisfy your hunger for a lot longer than carbs. A little peanut butter spread in a stalk of celery is great. A hard boiled egg is another great choice.
Buy And Freeze Small Spice Containers
When spices go on sale, I buy extra and store them in the little shelves in my freezer. I have also discovered that the little jars/bottles of spices are the best buy, as the larger bottles of spices lose their strength.
Using Collectible Bowls for Jewelry
I have collected tiny, little shallow bowls for years. They are so cute. I put them out on my dresser in my bedroom and use them for my earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Now I can enjoy both the little bowls and my displayed jewels!
Cleaning a Keyboard
You can purchase keyboards that will go through the dishwasher, or wash by hand. I don't have one, but you can also purchase a can of pressurized air with a long thin straw attachment to shoot a blast of air into the small spaces between the keys.
Cleaning A Wood Cutting Board
I use baking soda and/or vinegar to clean my cutting board. Occasionally I oil it with cooking oil. I have used the same hand made wooden cutting board for over 40 years, and it is still in good condition.
