Tito Finally Made It Back HomeThis photo was taken after we found Tito and got him back home. He had been missing for 10 days. This was one of the best days that I can remember.
Feeding the ChickensI save my food scraps to give to my neighbor's chickens. Mama hen gets all excited when she sees me coming and from her actions, she's telling me to hurry up.
Our New GirlsLast year was a devastating year for our family. We lost all 6 of our chickens to raccoons over the course of a few months. Two of them were almost 6 years old and another was more like a pet dog than a chicken to us. After a lot of contemplation we decided to try again, after extensive fortification of our coop. These are our 5 new girls, exploring outside for the first time!
Our Three Little ChicksWe recently bought these 3 girls from a local farm store. Our two other chickens are getting older and we thought we would add to our flock so that we keep getting eggs.
Cheeko (Masked Lovebird)I first got Cheeko at a pet store called Aquabirds because I started to get very interested and fascinated by birds and their beauty. I got my bird Cheeko on the summer school holidays!
Mille Fleur Bantam RoosterWe raised this rooster from a chick, part of a mixed group of bantam chicks we bought at a feed store. He has two brothers which are almost identical.
Ginger (Gingernut Ranger)We bought Ginger from a breeder who sold sexlink chickens.
Calla Lily (Blueheaded Pionus)Closeup of parrot.
Our ChicksWe decided that we would like to raise a few chickens for eggs. We got them from a neighbor who breeds chickens. It will be a fun activity to do as a family. We plan on retiring them once they are no longer laying, so they will get to enjoy long and happy lives. :)
New Baby Barred Rock ChicksThese little babies are my daughter's new chickens. We brought them home from the feed supply store. They are Barred Rock chickens. They are so cute. They are the last ones of the season at that store.
Bathing Beauty (Chicken)When you are a young chick, bathing in the sun becomes a top priority (at least when you are a chicken). I will be posting many more of the Bugaboo Gang taking sunbaths as they are spending more and more time outdoors.
The Boogaboo Bunch (Rhode Island Red Mix)The Boogaboo Bunch are baby Rhode Island Red mix. We were at Tractor Supply today and we decided to add to our family. We have eight baby chicks, guaranteed to be pullets and not roosters.
Catnap by the Bird CagePeanut the cat knows not to touch the bird cage or he gets a quick spray of water. He just happened to fall asleep touching the cage.
Phoenix and Fluffy (Chicks)Phoenix is the black legged chick, and Fluffy is the white legged chick. Our pet chicks are very young, they are still in an incubator large plastic home on our entertainment center in the bedroom.
Biscuit (Chicken)This chicken's name is Biscuit (shortened from Biscuits and Gravy). We have 9 chicks and they have been fun to raise so far.
Syringe Feed Parrots RegularlyWhen baby parrots are born, most of them are fed with a syringe by the breeder to make the babies bond to the human touch. It is recommended that you continue to feed your adult parrot in this manner occasionally.
Whitey and Lucky (Rhode Island Red Mix Chickens)Whitey and Lucky are 3 days old in this picture. They are Rhode Island Red Mix. Imagine the surprise of going to feed the chickens on January 2, 2010 when my grandson yells "babies."
Violet at 8 Months (Parakeet)Violet is 8 months old and a parakeet. My daughter got her for my husband's birthday.
Violet (Parakeet)Violet is a parakeet. She is young, not sure, less than a year. I got her at Petsmart on July 12, 2008.
Skittle Katherine (Katrina Rescue) -...Skittle Katherine is a 2 year old Pacific parrotlet. We adopted her after hurricane Katrina. She was running around in New Orleans and a friend found her.
Gypsy (Cockatiel)This is a picture of our cockatiel "Gypsy" We've had him for almost 2 years, or you could say he's had us. He "found" us.
