Is this a bad idea? I've been reading lots on how to introduce them and am just worried I'm gonna to annoy my resident cat!

Causes of Cat Hair Loss?My 8 year old male cat has a spot on his left side just bigger than a quarter with no fur there. It has been there for a few weeks and does not appear to bother him. He doesn't scratch at it and I can touch it just fine.
Kitten With Eye Discharge?My cat has eye gunk, much like a humans, crusty, and yellow, but not super yellow. Only after I wake her up does she get this. I use a warm cloth to wipe her eyes and it vanishes. As soon as she goes to sleep and wakes back up it's back and she can no longer open her eyes. I then have to repeat the process.
