Nyala (Dinokeng North, South Africa)Our staff went on a team building experience at Camp Discovery in Dinokeng North. To end the day, we went for a game drive. We saw several beautiful and unique animals, but the pick of the day was this nyala.
Yellow-billed Duck (Austin Roberts Bird Sanctuary,...I visited one of my favorite spots when I needed a quick break, i.e the Austin Roberts Bird Sanctuary. It is quite close to home, a tranquil garden with a few small perennial dams that attract a multitude of birds. A beautiful spot for a cup of tea and a piece of cake.
Lion Resting in ShadeTwo weeks ago, we went on a game drive at Rietvlei Dam Nature Reserve. The reserve boasts four of the big five, including buffalo, rhino, lion, and leopard. The lion park is a new addition. It is a sanctuary for lions that will not be able to survive in the wild.

Buzzards (Asseteague Island, Maryland)While taking a road trip to the beach I was lucky to catch these huge buzzards lined up on this fence. What a great fall sight!
Ostrich at Lake Tobias Animal Farm (Halifax, PA)I had the pleasure of meeting this silly ostrich while visiting Lake Tobias Animal farm in Halifax, Pennsylvania.
Great Egret (Noblesville, IN)This is a photo of a Great Egret that feeds in the pond I live on. I had a difficult time getting a good shot since they are very skittish.
Great Blue Heron (Noblesville, IN)I took this photo from my deck. This heron sits on a neighbor's chimney almost every morning, looking out on the pond we live on. It took quite a few tries before I could get a descent shot, but I think it was worth the trouble!
Birds and Birdfeeder (Marietta, OH)This was taken north of Marietta at the lock and dam on the Ohio. They have a picnic area there and at each end of it is this high birdfeeder. It was so much fun to watch them and take pics.

You're on MY Feeder! (Litchfield County, CT)This woodpecker (downy or ladderback?) is eating the ants off the feeder, and a female ruby throat just happened to arrive at the right time to get in the shot. They can't take their eyes off each other!
Peacock (Yellowstone Bear World, ID)While visiting Yellowstone Bear World I visited the petting zoo. This peacock put a fine show on for his three peahens as well as us visitors.

Bee On Flower (Hartshorne, OK)This is a picture that I took as I was walking around the property. I'm not sure what kind of flower it is, I just thought it was a beautiful pic. I just walk around with my camera and take pictures of things that capture my attention.
Feeding Baby Bird (St. Georges, Bermuda)While recently on vacation in Bermuda, I saw these two beautiful yellow birds flying around and sqwaking loudly. As I continued to watch them, I noticed that one was flying around more then the other, but kept returning to the one sitting in the tree.
Blue Morpho Butterflies (Monteverde Butterfly...The Blue Morpho butterfly is well known for its brilliant blue wings when in flight. When at rest with wings in the closed position only the brown underside of the wing is visible.

Helping a Wounded Butterfly (Sunnyvale, CA)My mother found this wounded butterfly in her garden. It couldn't fly so she kept it in a small basket with some sugar water solution for nutrition.

Wildlife: Mated WoodpeckersI had to have an old dead tree removed from my backyard, and although I knew it had to come down, it was very sad for me. The tree that was taken out was the favorite 'snack bar' for a pair of mated woodpeckers.
Wildlife: Roseate Spoonbill (Florida)To see these birds in the wild is a thrill. Unfortunately they became rare because their feathers were once used to adorn ladies' hats. Fortunately they are now protected and making a slow comeback.
Wildlife: Finch in Autumn Tree (Hillsboro, OR)We have a variety of birds that come to our yard to get seed from the feeders we have hung up. The large Weeping Chinese Cherry tree in the front gives them cover and a place to congregate while zipping back and forth to the feeders.
Wildlife: Blue Marine ButterflyThe butterfly that I photographed above is a Blue Marine Butterfly, and is not very large. It is beautiful and I found it on one of my ivy geraniums sometime ago.
Wildlife: Sea Anemone (Sunset Beach, OR)This is from one of our many journeys out to explore the trails and shores around Sunset Beach just outside of Charleston, Oregon. While excitedly adventuring around a rocky shore filled with tide pools, I found an area with brilliantly green sea anemones!
Wildlife: Falcon at My Bird Feeder (Ohio)This falcon came to visit my birdfeeder. Of course, he wasn't looking for seed but one nice, fat bird. But that's nature, isn't it? He's a beautiful guy. He didn't get a meal that day, by the way.
Wildlife: Hooded OrioleThe Hooded Orioles are beautiful birds and are in our area and garden in the Spring. This one, at the tip-top of the cypress, showing its golden sun colors, immediately attracted me to photograph him.
Wildlife: Vibrant Purple Starfish (Sunset Beach, OR)I found this starfish while beach hopping with my husband near Sunset Beach here on the Oregon Coast. We love to hit up Sunset, hike the trails above the beach, and create our own journey from there.
Wildlife: Salamander (Nesika County Park,...While relaxing along the river at Nesika County Park with my husband and our two dogs, this little critter decided to make friends with us. He swam near us, sun-bathed near us, and even got brave enough to decide to crawl towards and inspect my camera.
Wildlife: Cacee and Cade (Raccoons)These two raccoon brothers lost their mother while they were still very young. I was able to raise them until release back into the wild.
Wildlife: Lady BugWe had a tree in our yard where, every spring, hundreds of ladybugs lived. The grand kids loved those ladybugs. Sadly, the tree is gone, but I have plenty of pics.
Wildlife: Bobcat (Weekii Wachee, FL)This is a bobcat my husband and I saw on our walk one morning in Weekii Wachee preserve.
Wildlife: Baby Pony (Assateague Island, MD)While visiting Assateague Island last month we were so lucky to see this little baby. So very neat to watch all the ponies in the wild! It's a special treat when you get to see them on the beach and in the ocean!
Wildlife: Large Bee (Gillette, WY)This bee was VERY large, about the size of a nickel. It paid no attention to me snapping pictures of it. It was far more interested in the cactus flower!
Wildlife: Mule Deer (Bighorn Mountains, WY)This beautiful Mule deer walked right by our camping spot in the Bighorn Mountains. His antlers are still in full velvet and he "posed" for a few minutes to allow me to get some gorgeous photos of him.
Wildlife: Seagull Line UpWe were visiting the beach and saw these seagulls all lined up.
Wildlife: Great Blue HeronThis is our friend, Hezekiah. He is a Great Blue Heron. When I fish from our dock, he flies over for a snack of the small fish I catch. He knows exactly where to stand while I fish.
Wildlife: ZebraWhile visiting a local wildlife farm, I stopped to take a picture of the zebras. As I stuck my camera lens through the fence, this guy started coming close to me. I wasn't sure if he wanted to say hello or eat my camera!
Wildlife: WrenI saw this fledgling house wren take his first "flight." He left the birdhouse, and stalled out. He went straight down into the neighbor's porch rail, hitting it with a "thunk." He landed directly below the point of impact.
Wildlife: Butterfly (Lake Hartwell, GA)We were vacationing at Lake Hartwell and saw a bush covered with these butterflies beside the lake.
Wildlife: Yellow-billed Duck (Austin Roberts Bird...I went to the Austin Roberts Bird Sanctuary for some quiet time, and saw this little fellow lazily swimming around. The calmness of the water, and the beauty of the surroundings were exactly the perk-me-ups I needed!
Wildlife: Byron the Cheetah (Anne Van Dyk Cheetah...We went to the Anne van Dyk Cheetah Centre in De Wildt on July 9, 2011. This is Byron, one of the centre's ambassador cheetahs. We were able to pose for photos with Byron, and to stroke his back.
Wildlife: Young Buck (Tiburon, CA)While we were vacationing in Tiburon, an early morning "peeper" caught our eye. We matched eyes with this young buck for what seemed like minutes. This was our last day of vacation. What a great way to remember our trip!
Wildlife: Two Mule Deer SparringThis was taken from my back porch, hence the fence in the foreground. This was the very first time I had actually seen two bucks sparing, and hurried to get my camera. This picture was taken on January of 2011.
Wildlife: Black-eyed Bulbul (Gauteng, South Africa)I took this photo of a black-eyed bulbul one morning in our garden. I had to sit and wait forever, to catch this little fella.
Wildlife: Adult GrosbeaksWe had 3 adults and 4 babies at the feeders. They all left by the time I got my camera. This pair was still feeding. I have noticed that this bird does not feed its young, like some other species do.
Wildlife: ChipmunkI think these guys like having their photo taken. They always sit upright to strike a pose whenever they hear the camera noises. I consider this an "AWW" picture!
Wildlife: Oriole at the FeederThis guy comes to visit at least 3 times a day. We give him half an orange once a week. One usually hears an oriole before he sees it. When I first heard his call, I looked up and couldn't see anything.

Baby Birds Outside Our Back DoorThese day old little ones are in their nest that is on our back porch light to the right of our door. That poor mama bird! We come and go out of that door so much. She flies off squawking at us each time!

In Memory Of Jewel (Mountain Lion)I took these photos of Jewel in 1995 for a wildlife magazine photo shoot in the mountains of Montana. Jewel was a real sweetheart. She died 3 years ago.

Wildlife: Winter VisitorsThese pictures were taken from my kitchen window recently during an ice and snow covered time. The creatures shown certainly appreciated the food provided for them. The ice is shown in the picture with the cardinal.

Wildlife: Lions (Africa)This picture is a picture me and my family took on our trip to Africa, of lions. We have always wanted to go to a wildlife place with lions so we finally did Africa! We got to see our lions we wanted to see, and they were beautiful.
Wildlife: Prince Charming?After the flooding the east coast had with Nicole, this frog jumped onto my front porch and allowed us to pick him up and photograph him. He was so calm, and I could only wonder if hidden somewhere behind those eyes was my Prince Charming.
Wildlife: Button BuckIf you look at his forehead, you'll see the bumps that will one day become antlers. My husband pointed this out to me one day. I didn't even notice them until he said something. :)

Garden: Preying MantisI was out in our yard photographing our flowers and came across this preying mantis on our rose bush. I love this picture because he was looking directly at me when I snapped the shot.
Wildlife: Snapping TurtleMy husband was showing our 2 year old son what a "mean" turtle will do. He got it to snap at his boot a couple of times. I jumped every time it snapped, so this is the best picture I got. It's now our screen saver.
Wildlife: Kittens (Mexico)While I was in traveling through Mexico, I visited a Blue Agave Plantation, Los Osuna Plantation and I heard a faint meow. I turned around and found two little kittens hiding in a machine.
Wildlife: Prairie ChickenThis Prairie Chicken sat and posed quite proudly for over an hour for my husband. We live on a lake in a protected Wildlife Habitat area so we are treated to all kinds of God's creatures. Bald Eagles often grace the trees at our dock.
Wildlife: Deer (Shaw Island, WA)On a day off, I noticed this deer had come into our compound. The locals told me this was pretty common, and since he loved to mooch food, they called him "Cracker".

Wildlife: FoxesI am thrilled to send these photos that my sister sent to me recently. These foxes were not rabid, but were not tame either. They seemed to be used to humans being close, and she was able to take three or four pictures of them.
Wildlife: Starfish in AlaskaI just thought people would like to see that starfish come in different colors. I took this picture when I lived in Klawock, Alaska. We were going clamming because there was a minus 13 foot tide.
Wildlife: Hairy WoodpeckerA hairy wood pecker, one of the many types of birds that feed at my oriole feeders. These fellows stay in my yard year round. I feed them seed and suet throughout the winter months.
Wildlife: Royal Terns (Florida)I hadn't been to the ocean in about forty years! It was on my "bucket list" to go again. I finally made it last February. This photo was taken in Florida. These birds are Royal Terns. Aren't they gorgeous?
Wildlife: Williamson's SapsuckerThis is a Williamson's Sapsucker, male. This bird was flying around our apartment complex's large courtyard during the snowy March this year. Isn't he handsome?
Wildlife: Unknown BugThis bug decided to hitch a ride with me, I don't know how long it was there before it was brought to my attention, could it be some type of grasshopper.
