Wildlife: Cat PhotosI love watching and feeding the critters in the courtyard (which also has a creek) from my apartment balcony. Along with the squirrels and a huge variety of birds there is a neighbor kitty cat that hangs out there sometimes.

Wild Monk ParrotThis is a wild Monk Parrot I happened to see while visiting family in Texas. He stayed near the house for several days. He almost looks fake sitting atop the satellite dish.

Garden: Butterflies To BeI plant tons of milkweed which is my host plant and it attracts many butterflies to my yard here in Florida.

Garden: Squirrel in a Ponderosa PineHave been feeding and taking pictures from my balcony of the squirrels that hang out in the courtyard of my apartment building for a few months now ...

Garden: Chinese MantidAt first I thought this creature was a Praying Mantis, but after further research, I found out it is a "Chinese Mantid". Did you know after the female mates, she often eats him?

Garden: Helpful SnakeThis little guy isn't my pet, but he was in my garden and he does help with the bugs. Not all snakes are bad, plus he blends right in.

Nest Made by Perfect Little EngineersMy boss found this Bee's nest (Hornet's?) in a high bush at my work yesterday. I went back on my day off hoping it was still there to take pictures. They were calling an exterminator to remove it.

Scenery: Thieving DeerMy pet thieves? Notice the deer shaking the bird feeder to empty onto the ground?

If Fish Could Fly?Catfish in our tree: Living on a lake I see a lot of weird things but this takes the cake. I saw something but couldn't make it out until I got out the zoom on my camera.

Oriole in My GardenBeautiful Orioles this year, they love the grape jelly I put in feeders every day.

Two Little PiggiesTwo little piggies wandered onto my property today, it was bitter cold out and we had no idea where they came from. We called the police and they contacted the animal control.

Hatching ButterflyI found this guy just in time to watch it hatch a day later. What a blessing! I haven't seen a butterfly hatch since grade school.

Yellow Finch

Yellow Finch and Her NestWe watched a yellow finch build a nest inside this birdhouse on our backyard deck; it was a beautiful sight seeing this yellow finch go back and forth building the nest then watching her nurture the baby birds;

Wildlife in the BackyardI have an area in back of my house at the edge of the woods where I feed the birds and the squirrels. I spend hours watching them play and feed. A couple days ago, I had a new guest at my "critter table".

Protecting Backyard Wildlife From a Cat?I have a duck nesting in my backyard. There are about 7 eggs inside and they're due to hatch anytime now. The problem is the cat next door and the owners who refuse to do anything about it. We've patched the holes in the fences, bought cat repellent, set a cat trap loaned to us by our local animal control, and rigged some wire fencing along the top of some of the entry ways on the fence.

The Hungry SquirrelNot sure if this qualifies for a pet, but I feed and water them just as I do my other pets. Only problem is the squirrels get up before I do. This is what I saw out my kitchen window this morning as I was pouring my first cup of coffee. The jar has popcorn in it and I usually spread it out on the blocks, but guess he was hungry and the blocks were bare.

Once I fed them, the other 10 or 12 showed up for breakfast buffet.
