Ammonia for Cleaning Window BlindsWe have a blind in our small bathroom that gets caked with dust and hairspray which can be hard to clean. I have to clean it several times a year.
Keeping Blinds CleanLike most renters, I have vertical blinds everywhere in my home. Where I live (near a beach), putting up curtains would mean way too much dirt and dust.
Clean Mini-Blinds OutdoorsI put my mini-blinds on the outdoor table and hose and wash with the car wash brush, then flip and do the other side. I hang them on the clothes line to dry. Kids can do this chore.
Cleaning Mini BlindsI put the slats a few at a time in my bath tub with dish liquid. I sloshed them around a bit, then I wrapped a wet micro fiber cloth around one end and pulled each slat through.
Use Paint Brush for Cleaning Pleated ShadeWhen cleaning pleated lampshades, slatted windows, or doors, I use a paint brush. It is really easy to get in the corners where the dust collects the most.
Starching Your CurtainsMy tip is on starching your kitchen curtains. Do you want your lacy, white kitchen curtains to be nice and crisp with the ruffles full of life just like the day that you bought them? In my case, my curtains are twenty years old and still like new.
Clean Blinds With Old SockHere's an easy way to remove dust from window blinds: Put an old sock over your hand as if you were making a sock puppet. Now grasp each slat on the blinds and rub your sock back and forth to remove the dust. So easy!
Removing Dust from the DrapesI've found that a great way to remove dust from my living room drapes is to just place them in the dryer with a dryer sheet and let them spin for five minutes or so.
Cleaning Venetian BlindsTo clean venetian blinds. Fill bath tub with enough warm water to cover blind. Add equal amounts of Tide & Spic & Span. About 1/2 cup each.Soak blind for short time. Blinds & cords come out clean without any scrubbing. Rehang blind with towels on window sill till dry. There is no danger combining the two cleaning agents.
Drying CurtainsI never dry my curtains. I wash them in my washing machine on gentle cycle and then rehang them wet. They dry there well and they don't have to be ironed.

Keeping Drapes Clean While CleaningA simple coat hanger will help protect drapes from damage while you're cleaning your carpets or floors. Fold the drapes in half like pants or slacks over the hanger and place the hanger on the curtain rod!
