Red, White, Blue BouquetIt's always great when the right flowers bloom at the same time. This bouquet is made up of red roses, white daisy, blue delphinum set off by bells of Ireland. I germinated the seed for bells of Ireland and had an abundance.
Garden: Dr. Brownell Tea RosesI love my tea roses and work hard to maintain them in Missouri. My three bushes of Dr. Brownell have had many blooms on them this year.

Garden: Spotted Tiger LilyIn spite of record breaking heat, to my surprise, these beautiful lilies emerged and lasted a couple of weeks. For the last couple of years they died out and did not make it to full bloom. I guess they made up for it this year.

Cutting Roses For A BouquetI have tea roses in my garden to use in bouquets for our church altar to aid in worship. I cut the roses in the morning, sometimes a few days before I use them. I let them stand in water a few hours before I refrigerate them.

PassionflowerThis plant grows wild in my yard. I have at least four, that just pop up in the spring! The flower looks purple in the photo but is a very bright, beautiful blue (periwinkle) color in person.

Spring FlowersThis little red rose if called Freedom Rose. I bought it as a sprig from Walmart 10 years ago. It has one root but is different. It requires a lot of water and regular fertilizing, but the reward is the blooms stay on.

Garden: Lily GardenI look forward every year for these beautiful Asiatic Lilies to bloom. I have had the Pink Pixie for several years but planted the Asiatic White Lily last year. The lilies are planted around two full size geese decoys.
Grandma's Gift: Pink PeonyThis was a well-traveled peony bush! It was taken from cuttings back in 2005 from a bush in my folk's yard, that in turn had come from my Grandma's yard in Wisconsin, more than 35 years earlier.
Garden: Climbing HydrangeaThis is a climbing Hydrangea. They take forever to bloom but my patience has been rewarded this year. Next year it will probably have more blooms yet. They are know to take up to 7 years to bloom. Mine is 6 years old and grows up a hickory tree.
Garden: Iris (Arkansas)My cousin sent me this bearded iris from Arkansas last year. I put it in a pot so I would remember where it was. This is the first bloom, and the color is so rich. It reminds me of orange sherbet.
Garden: CamelliaThis is one of my favorite varieties of camellia. It was an inexpensive plant from the Home Depot. The garden has probably 5-6 shrubs that have all grown tall enough to see over the fence from the walkway.
Garden: Voodoo Lily Bloom (Folkston, GA)The voodoo lily is a very unique flower. It is a corm, not a bulb. To bloom it requires very little care. Like the ones in the wild, it needs spring floods and mulch with light fertilizer.

Use Straws for Flower ArrangementsShort-stemmed flowers or curvy stems are hard to put in a floral arrangement. What I do is cut the stem under cold water and at an angle with sharp scissors. Next, put the stem into a plastic drinking straw and put into your own custom arrangement.

Angel Trumpet BushThis is a angel trumpet bush, it blooms from July to here it is in late October. Don't know how long it will bloom. Last year it was in late November. The smell from this plant is wonderful. The plant, if eaten, is highly poisonous. So you need to keep kids and pets away.
