Microwave Meat LoafMix hamburger, ketchup, egg, salt, and pepper. Crush enough crackers to make hamburger mixture not so sticky. Shape into mini meat loaves so 4 will fit in 9 inch square pan.
Microwave "Grilled" Cheese SandwichFor a fast "not grilled cheese" sandwich, toast bread and butter the outsides. Place sliced cheese between two slices of toast and microwave for 30 seconds to melt cheese.
Cooking Sweet CornNow that sweet corn is in season, a frugal way to prepare it and save time and water is to make it in your microwave. Use a gallon size freezer bag and place the peeled and cleaned ears of corn inside. Six will fit easily.
Microwave Pastry ShellPrepare your pie dough recipe and roll out enough for a 9 inch pie plate or whatever size you want to use, to a 1/8 inch thickness. Place pie plate upside down on dough. Cut a circle of dough 2 inches larger than top of pie plate. Gently fit pastry in pie plate.
Baking Apples in the MicrowaveYou can make a nice "baked" style apple easily in the microwave. Use any type of apple except for Red Delicious. I like to use harder cooking apples like Northern Spy, Yellow Delicious, Crispin, and Jonagold, but softer types like Cortland and Macintosh also work well.
