Use Salt To Prevent Bleeding Fabric DyeI love my old jeans I wear for gardening. Too bad they see a lot of wear and tear. With our weather never getting above freezing for weeks on end, now is a good time to get out needle and thread and do some patching.

Fabric Stamp Art - white fabric with red overlapping paint circles mounted to a piece of cardboard

Fabric Stamp ArtSometimes it is fun to change things up a bit when doing art. Art projects should be fun. In this project a square piece of fabric is used instead of paper. I used a pill bottle top without the lid for the circle stamp. I dipped the bottle into the paint as shown.

Pre-shrinking and Setting DyeI grew up in a house where Mama made all my clothes and I remember her explanations of why the dye had to be "set" in cold salt water. She also told me about pre-shrinking new fabric so that the garment wouldn't shrink after it was made and washed.

Reusing Bed SkirtsI have found a great bargain for all of us crafters! If any of you are thrift store addicts like me, you may have noticed that there are a lot of bed skirts in the linen section of Goodwills, etc. Apparently not a lot of people use them, but they are a great source of fabric.

What's This Fabric Made From?Did you ever wonder that when you're shopping at your local thrift store or at a one-dollar-a-yard "undetermined fiber content" fabric table at Walmart? Well, I always carry a small lighter in my purse or glove compartment.
