Double Check Measurements When Submitting Recipes
Amen! Thanks for the reminder to all!

Freezing Chiles
I love it. One tiny can of adobo is pretty strong for any one recipe. I do exactly the same with my basil pesto. Fresh basil all winter long! Break off a piece, and back into the freezer with the rest!

Grill Foods Before Company Arrives
I must respectfully disagree with you! Sure, start early so that food is finishing soon after guests are arriving, but the fun of a BBQ for guests is participating a bit, even if that means the guys getting their first ice cold beer out of the cooler and standing...

Fish Fillets Au Gratin
Classic french cooking and even Lidia Bastianich say never fish paired with cheese, but this sounds yummy. And of course, cheesy tuna noodle casserole and shrimp scampi with grated parm are noteable exceptions. This sounds great. I might try it.

Macaroni and Cheese Too Dry?
One more thought: If youre using pre-shredded bagged cheese, sometimes they add cornstarch to the bag cheese so it doesnt clump, and cornstarch is yet another thickener. So also try grating your own cheese vs. the bag stuff.

Macaroni and Cheese Too Dry?
Just reading back on your recipe, I would simply try it without the flour at all. Just the starch of the pasta and the cream cheese should make a creamy rich sauce, even if not baking it.

Macaroni and Cheese Too Dry?
I think the simple solution is more plain milk or water in your recipe. Might back off a tablespoon of the flour too, which just thickens it to glop. The starch in the macaroni without any flour should thicken it fine if youre baking it. If you want a more...

Cheater's Lasagna
Im sorry, but this does not sound good to me! No clue why there would be brown sugar (jar spaghetti sauce is sweet enough) and orange cheese soup sounds yuck. Sorry. Perhaps I should just try it first, but I probably wont.

Freezing Potato Chips?
I dont know how well that will work if freezer burn or ice crystals. You can always re-crisp stale chips in a slow oven, 180 for 10 mins. Otherwise, might suggest stocking up on chips on sales, esp. at WalMart around high seasons, like Super Bowl, etc., and...

Turkey Potato Patties
Im raised italian, and potato patties from leftover mashed are part of my upbringing and my comfort food. Even without the turkey, which sounds great, I mix the leftover mashed with same ingreds, but plus breadcrumbs and especially parmesan or romano cheese...

Making Lasagna For 175 People?
If your pan is roughly 16 X 12, youre going to get twelve 4 squares out each pan, right? A 4 square sounds about right for a serving. So 175 divided by 12 = 14.5 pans. Sounds like about 15 pans to me! Good luck with that!

Tomato Beef Macaroni
You just invented Hamburger Helper! I do the same, but not because I worry about the cost of draining one pot of pasta water, I just think the dish ends up tasting better because all the flavors of the meat and tomato and seasonings end up cooked into the noodles...

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup?
You have exactly everything you need! Just put it all together and season with salt and pepper to taste, you cant go wrong! But here are a few tips: I make my own egg noodles, better and more hearty and more thrifty, if more work. I put one or two eggs in the...

Veal in Sour Cream
Sounds really yummy, but buying veal is not Thrifty at my grocery store! Maybe made with round steak and cooked longer until beef is tender?

Louisiana Fish Fry Recipe?
I dont have an exact clone recipe, but the following ideas should get you close: Obviously the main ingredient is yellow corn meal. Perhaps some white flour too and/or corn flour. The seasonings are close to a seasoned salt (Lowreys-type), lemon (easiest would...

Use Sink to Mix Caramel Corn
This is a workable good idea! I do it for big things like rubbing a brisket or spareribs. and I do have a stainless steel sink. However, I would suggest instead of the rubbing alcohol as a sterilizer, buy the dollar store kitchen cleaner with bleach (same as...

Chick Fil A Chicken Recipe?
Heres what I can tell you. Chick Fil A is loaded with MSG. MSG is not a bad thing! MSG has the same bad reputation as high-fructose corn syrup, which is in every non-diet soda. I work part time for Frito-Lay at Wal-Mart, and the chip aisle (which is 80% Frito...

Recipes Using Chicken Drumsticks?
My kids love buffalo wings, and legs can be done same way. Since real wings have gotten so expensive, legs are a thrifty substitute. Just fry legs in oil until done, and toss with buffalo wing sauce. And DONT buy a bottled wing sauce, thats wasting money. 1...
