Pet Food Canning Recipes?Next spring, our family will be raising a whopping 400 Cornish cross broiler chickens (I know, that's a lot!). Most will be canned, frozen, or shared with family. However, since I'll be busy canning anyways, I would really like to be able to prepare healthy, balanced dog and cat food out of the chicken (with fruits, veggies, etc.) that I can pressure can and store. Any tips?
Is My Puppy Purebred?I have a 4 month old Shetland Sheepdog that I just adore. She was a bit pricey (full papered and what-not) and I want to get a second one to keep her company. I found one without papers, the same age, but a very unusual color.
Creating Quality Compost Through The Winter? My husband and I recently purchased 3 acres, and I hope to grow plenty of fruits and vegetables next spring. I'm hoping to create quality compost throughout the winter. Besides kitchen scraps, we also have a small horse and goat for, um, fertilizer.
Recipes Using Apples?I recently bought several bags of small apples (a really good sale or so I thought). They are a little on the tart side, and are quickly bruising. Any advice on simple recipes to get them used up quickly? Also, how can I sweeten them?
Organizing a Charity Dog Walk?I would really like to devote some time to launching a charity dog walk this summer or fall. It would benefit a wonderful organization in my area, which provides no-questions-asked reduced price spay/neuter services. Sometimes they even drop their price to $10 per pet, and they take a deeper loss just to get more pets fixed. Any advice on where to start with something like this (plus prizes, locations, etc.) would be greatly appreciated!
Name Ideas for a Pet Food Pantry? My husband and I are starting a non-profit pet food pantry. It essentially supplies supplemental pet food to low/no income people, as a way to help keep pets from ending up in the shelters.
Entering Cookies in a Baking Contest?I am busy perfecting a few cookie recipes, and I hope to enter them in the local county fair. However, I have never entered baked goods (or anything for that matter) in the fair. Any advice? Thank you.
