Make Your Own Window Blinds? Can anyone recommend how to make top-down blinds out of natural woven (e.g. bamboo) material? My idea is to take a standard blind and convert it to a top down/bottom up or just convert it to a top down blind.

Preventing Moth Infestations? We are trying to stay clothes/pantry moth-free since an infestation in September of last year. We are really scared of finding holes in our clothes again. Is it true that spray starch attracts and nourishes larvae? Can we use spray sizing on our clothes instead? Any cleaning secrets that moth-infestation survivors have to share?

Corner Dining Booth With Storage? We live in a railroad layout apartment in NYC and we want to build our own corner dining booth, i.e. a table with a rounded or two-sided banquette with storage space. We have scanned the net and books and we cannot find exactly what we need. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Natural Homemade Tooth Powder?I want to make my own tooth powder from natural ingredients. I would like this powder to be safe enough for everyday use. I would also like to use sage or the equivalent to whiten my teeth as well. Is there a safe, homemade tooth powder that whitens, too, and can be used on a daily basis?

Cleaning Up Spilled Household Ammonia? Can anyone tell me what to do if you spill clear, common household ammonia on a rug or, in fact, on anything at all? I don't have kitty litter and I live in an apt. I opened windows, doors, etc., but I still don't feel comfortable that I don't know EXACTLY what to do when I spill ammonia. I am transitioning from expensive household products to homemade and vinegar, baking soda, borax I can deal with.

What is Whiting?I am using boric acid to get rid of silverfish. I've read online that it is good to mix it with the inert substance, 'whiting'. What is whiting and where can I find it? The local hardware store does not carry it. Any suggestions?
