When my babies were able to sit up on their own (6 months), they enjoyed sitting in a laundry basket inside a regular tub. This kept their bath toys within reach and allowed them to hold onto the sides to keep their balance.
I would also use this method to have them in the shower with me so that I could actually have a shower while keeping them in sight. Face them away from water spray.

Bathing a baby can be a slippery time. To get a better hold on the baby get a pair of cotton gloves. Sometimes you can get them at the Dollar Tree. They are very lightweight and you can use as a washcloth.
Keep yourself dry while giving your baby a bath by creating a large bib from a towel. Just fasten one end of the towel around your neck using a large safety pin and let the rest drape in front of you.
There is no need to purchase a special "bathwater thermometer" for your baby's bath if you already own a fever thermometer. In reality, you will be able to tell if the water is too hot, or the temperature your baby prefers, by sticking your own wrist in the bathwater.
The next time you give baby a tub bath, partially fill a hot water bottle with lukewarm water and place it in the bottom of the tub for him to sit on. Baby will enjoy the event in greater safety and comfort.
