One way I have found to remove the baked-on grease on my stove burners is to use Scrubbing bubbles. You can normally find this in all stores and basically, it is used in the bathroom.

My second choice is to use powdered dishwashing detergent to clean the baked-on grease on my stovetop. Other things that I have found to work really well are Windex, white vinegar mixed with dish soap, oil believe it or not, and even ammonia if you can stand the smell and have a very open kitchen otherwise I would not use this one at all.

The first move is to remove the burners from the stove as water and electricity do not mix.
Find a good comfortable place to work as this will take some manual cleaning also. You may want to work on a counter top later so have some newspaper handy or a couple of old towels as this makes a mess.

Place an old towel in your sink so the burners will not make scratches. Make a paste of baking soda and and apply it to the burners covering them completely. Wait about 15 minutes and apply white or apple cider vinegar over the baking soda and let it fizz for about 5-10 minutes. Use a scrubbie and run it all over element surfaces to remove any particles still hanging on. Of course, you may have to do all of this for a second time but I've always had good luck with this method. Rinse, dry and replace them on a nice clean stove (clean stove while waiting on solution to clean your elements)

Some people use soapy steel wool pads but I do not like these as the steel seems to stick in my fingers.

There are numerous ways to clean your stove parts but always remember to remove the elements from stove before using anything liquid.

I have an old O'Keefe and Merritt Gas Stove. It has a grill and boiler, I need to clean under the grill.
