We are holding a wedding in our backyard in June in N. California. We would like to create a tent like effect with gauze like fabric. Has anyone ever tried cheesecloth for a gauze like curtain treatment for something like this. If so, how did it work?

You would be less expensive to use netting. That goes on sale alot, and as it is, is is about 75% less than gauze material.

I am planning my daughters wedding, the theme is rustic elegant and the venue is an outdoor space, a wood covered deck at the marina. We need to have some kind of climate proof blinds, etc. in case it is windy or rainy that day. We also have ceiling fans to cover up, I am thinking giant Chinese lanterns. Any other ideas welcome. Also any other decorating ideas. Please? Thanks!

That is a disadvantage of an outdoor wedding, but you see a lot of them that don't have shelter from the elements, like on beaches, outdoor gardens, etc. Why hide the ceiling fans---you might actually need to use them.

White Christmas lights on the wood should look good. Assorted potted flowers, fern, or any other greenery scattered and/or in groupings should look elegant. Keep it simple.

I would use lots of tulle and mini white lights! Maybe some branches spray painted white with lights in them coming up from a flower pot. Possibly candles in hurricane holders with the little clear or colored pebbles of the color of the brides maids dresses.

(Pebbles that one would use at the bottom of a fish bowl) I hope this helps!

A large white tent would be nice, decorated as firefly suggested. A second tent decorated likewise could serve as reception area. Baskets and buckets of fresh plants and flowers would also be nice

You didn't mention the time of day or time of year? That plays into your decor, and also why not feature the marina aspect of your location. Is it at the beach or on a lake. Surrounded by boats or water? Lots of questions but they really are important as to what you will want to do.

Have lots of ideas but they need to be applicable to your situation and style of wedding (besides rustic elegant) sit down/stand up, etc. etc. Good luck.
