Please suggest a color for curtains. Stairwell is going to be black metal modern with cable. Room divider (not up yet) is brown /wood/geometric/ modern slats (between dining room and living room). Walls 16 feet high. Walls pure white. Teal/turquoise rug - see picture (hasn't arrived yet) will be overlapped on existing rug. Should I paint window sills black to match stairs and chimney to give contrast to window area? OR Should I choose a different color curtain other than white?
Should I change pillows on couch? Ones I have are white with teal, brown and green geometric design. Large pictures have ivory background/green, turquoise, aqua leaves. Frames are brown. Plaques next to mantel are birchwood natural with black palms. Wall across from chimney matches the brick on chimney (creamy beige bricks). Actually it's wallpaper, but it sure does look like real bricks. Floor is going to white hardwood with a hint a beige, but primarily whitish.
Please suggest any ideas you have in mind to improve my space. Bear in mind I would like to keep the room as light and airy as possible. I tried beige linen drapes but they caused the room to become somewhat drab. I would appreciate any and all recommendations you may have as I am really stuck here. Thank you so very much! God Bless.
If it was my room, with the dark furniture, dark frames, dark firebox, and dark mantle, I would change the curtains to a pretty aqua or teal color, but not TOO dark a shade. And maybe not solid. If you could find white with some swirls, or other splashes of aqua or teal, I think that would look great. If not, then go with my first suggestion.

I have a dark brown recliner and a granite (gray) loveseat. Thought a multi colored browns and gray throw would tie them togather. What would do you think and any suggestion on where to find a inexpensive throw?

I need some ideas for colours for wallpaper and carpet for my living room. The room is 4m x 2m, with a bay window that is north facing. The ceiling, which is low, is painted white. The items of furniture I have are a black leather sofa and some beech coloured hi fi units.

What colour lounge suite would go with the attached curtains?
Thanks
Any of the warm colors in the curtain set would go well. You could choose a cold color like turquoise blue, mint green, for added interest or a warm orange.
I painted my living room brown. It looks weird, but beautiful, I must say. What accessories can I use to make it beautiful and what colour can I combine on the wall with the brown.
So many colour options! Tans and shades of beige, yellows, oranges. White might be too stark and red perhaps too harsh.
We just recently purchase a new living room set which looked beige/taupe in the showroom and once it arrived at the house it looks very gray :( All the tones in my house are very warm and the coolness of the couch looks odd. Hubby won't let me paint the current light beige walls with yellow undertones, are there ways to accent to tone down the coolness of the gray? Thanks!
How about some red pillows?
I just bought a 1980s small cabin and could use some advice on the living room color scheme. There is faux wood paneling on the walls that I am contemplating painting sage green. The sofa is hopefully soon going to be in a shade of brown. There is carpeting that is a mixture of brown and cream. The dilemma is the corner fireplace that is covered in white with some grey faux brick called Zbrick.
Right now it clashes with the paneling and I would like to paint the Zbrick. Any ideas on color for fireplace would be appreciated. And if anyone has other ideas for paint color on paneling other than sage green I am open to suggestions. Thank you!Google "how to paint zbrick" and you'll find very clear instructions. As for color, you have to decide if you want the fireplace to be the focal point or not. How much strong artwork, doorways and Windows it would compete with. The "how to" site gives you tips on making it look like tile.
