Overnight French Toast Casserole

overnight french toastThe best part in making this delicious breakfast is that it is prepared in advance. By the time you bake it the next day it is moist and yummy!

Total Time: 30 min. prep and 45 min. bake

Yield: 6-8

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf Texas Toast
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • powdered sugar, optional
  • maple syrup, optional

Steps:

  1. Melt butter in a bowl in the microwave. Add brown sugar and stir until well combined.

  3. Pour the butter mixture into a 9x13 inch pan, and spread out evenly.

  5. Put one layer of bread into the pan.

  7. Beat eggs, milk, and vanilla together.

  9. Pour 1/2 of the egg mixture over the bread, spread it out evenly with a spoon if necessary.

  11. Put a second layer of bread into the pan, then pour the remaining egg mixture over the bread. Spread out if necessary.

  13. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight (or at least 6-8 hours).

  15. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake casserole, covered, for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes or until the top begins to brown.

  17. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired and serve with maple syrup. Enjoy!

Grease a 9x13 inch cake pan. Slice the French bread 1 inch thick and layer in pan. Mix thoroughly the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Pour over the bread mixture (bread will float to top).
