Why not cover the area with an iron on patch and write the new name some where else? Or glue/sew a piece of fabric to cover the old name and write on that.

A friend's aunt was robbed several times about 20 years ago. Police told her to put her initials on everything, so she did, including on a beautiful white quilt with brightly colored appliques.
How do I remove a felt tip or permanent marker pen line from a white cotton duvet cover?

Use hairspray & blot with paper towels. Keep changing the paper towels around when they get dirty. I've used this method several times over the years & it works!
I think it is the alcohol in the hair spray that makes it work. If the hairspray doesn't work, try straight rubbing alcohol.
Krud Kutter will remove it use a cloth (white) under it and spray it and blot with clean white cloth it is fabulous stuff. It removed very florescent pink paint from my husband's camo jacket when the nozzle leaked on to it. This stuff is the most amazing stuff.
